Looks like it's from South Africa's first series back in the fold. Nice running track on the ground, Indian cricket has come a long way.

everything in this video is worth a comment!

  • the uniforms, india using their world series cup uniforms with normal cream pants, SA leaving their whites in the green dye for about 13 days too long
  • the running track as you mentioned
  • how far has indias broadcasting of cricket come? ABC in the 70's looked better than this
  • the crowd around the boundary
  • the bowling speed was before its time

Brian Close after an innings against the Windies in 1975.

Magnificent FC career but a modest test record. Hard a nails on the field. The Windies really respected him for his courage when batting against them.

Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland UK. Bowling from the clock tower end?

Note the small car parked on the cow boundary.....just asking for a smashed window..

Imagine playing there....cucumber sandwiches and a cheeky Pimms for afternoon tea old chap?

just magnificent.
At the risk of being a little self indulgent, me and the misses have just come back from 6 weeks in the UK, which included us being at the Lords test....and visiting Bamburgh Castle.

Makes me want to make a comeback.......imagine playing on that oval!! On the other side of the Castle is the ocean so it would neve get hot during the day......

Every village we drove through had a turf deck on the oval...even the small ones where the population of the village would barely be 100.
