Lou: "And they go back into attack; out there to Knights...and Knights - no he didn't pay that, it hit the ground first! A handpass from Clayton over there to Pert at half-back...and now the pressure's on Fitzroy as it goes out there towards Quinlan; he flies, misses it, down he goes, but the umpire said it'll be one 'in the back' and Quinlan'll take the free kick out there on the centre-wing position. As we said before, a great second quarter by Bernie Quinlan. Short pass...and there's Conlan breaking clear, and can this fella break clear through a pack! And look at him go! And he's brushed another one aside as he fires for goals...and he's just about made the distance...it's a goal! What a brilliant goal on the part of Conlan! Goal number 3; he's been a magnificent player today! SO it's 13.10...13.10.88 points, Hawthorn to Fitzroy 16.5.101"

Peter: "We ran out of screen, there!"

Olmy knows best

If it was Peter Landy yor talking about he did well not use the term LIKEWISE in those 6 or so words. I sat through the whole Olympics rowing coverage waiting for him to say likewise. Everything with Landy was bloody likewise e.g "Mcmahons cutting Essendon up across half forward - likewise Murnane whose racked up some healthy possesions" or Wilson cant handle the greay ball likewise Francis. but he did commentate on some great victories in the 80,s

Vague recollections :

McCormack punches out of midair, over his head, to a running teammate : 'Oh, isn't he smart!' (Don Scott)

'Wheildon doesn't mind it, he's just poleaxed his opponent'.

'Morgan (I think), gets around Lupson.' 'He'd wanna get around Lupson, Lupson'd line him up.'

(re Baldwin) : 'There's a bloke playing his fourth game, and he just threw himself in front of a moving tram.'

Also 'Soccered off the ground by Baldwin, who makes it a contest, and gains vaulable metreage for his team.'

(re Duane Rowe) : 'Off he runs ... shock of blond hair.'
