The almost exact same thing that was said by North fans about Kelly.

Not saying it's impossible but when you hear about it for any player with a bit of talent every single time we draft and it works out that way zero. It gets amusing.

What these guys don’t see is what we are building, it’s a very special culture.

These young blokes come to GWS and are a bit apprehensive. They go from being rock star junior talent to anonymous and the back of the que of a ridiculously talented group. This is very confronting and initially aids to homesickness.

However the group is so tight and galvanised and the list management and recruiting team have done such a stellar job bringing in high character leaders that it really pushes all the kids to be a part of it.

No doubt blokes not getting a regular game will get unsettled and will leave but the guys who are going well do not want to leave the club.

Sydney has better weather, offers more anonymity and the young blokes can live close to the beach, earn a shit tonne of money and play the game they love. If they want a big crowd just keep winning and play finals.

I went to the pre and post game functions for the grand final and I have not seen a closer group of people and warmer culture, these guys are all best mates.

When Jacob Hopper joined us everyone said he will be back in Melbourne in two years and will go to Essendon. He is the first bloke to re-sign.

Once these guys get into a club, form friendships and start trying to achieve a common goal they generally stick around, particularly in a winning team which we will be for the foreseeable future.

So keep dreaming Richmond fans, in the very least it gives you something to talk about during the off season.

We've got the best ruck in the league, can't believe that we would take an undersized project ruck who's shown nothing as a forward at pick 3, when Preuss has a 4 year deal too. The incompetence of this club especially Mahoney is unbelievable.

Until draft day, these are just guesses. The AFL media is so packed full of lies and horseshit rumours that you can't trust anything they say these days, so there's no real indication that Melbourne plan on taking Jackson with Pick 3. Young is the better choice there anyway

Excuse me... This is Melbourne we are talking about. Club motto, careers ended here [in Latin of course]

As stated it’s still speculation. I’ve spoken to a couple of recruiters and been told Jackson is interesting because he’s so unique. He has athletic qualities of a key forward but also has an elite tank.

He’s not tall enough to be a direct comparison with Grundy but his ability to move around the ground, fill in spaces and be a marking threat down the line make him interesting.

Plus the fact there are a dearth of tall options and he has only focussed on footy this year with his 18th year being his best.

In a perfect world you take Young at 3 and Jackson at 8 but he will be gone so you push the button and hope to get a nice player at your next pick or trade for a couple of similarly rated kids a touch further back.

The fact is we don’t know what you are going to do, whether you bid or whether you take Jackson. Even then it won’t be for 5 years until we really know if it was good or bad. You have actually made some really good decisions over the years such as Hogan and Oliver but understand the frustration as well.
