He didnt get caught up in it in the end. He ends up back in USA away from it all.
Well, for a while he obviously did.

The fact the character is from USA suggests to me a big point of the movie was to suggest ANYONE could get caught up in that type of mob mentality
Agreed. But Elijah Wood wasn't convincing as that "anyone".
 
That was the whole bloody point. Wood was supposed to be unconvincing. If they wanted someone who looks and portrays a thug they would of hired Robert Downey jnr.
I think what he was trying to say is that he was unconvincing at being unconvincing if you get me.I have to say i agree with him. it's a decent movie but i think some people here are just dazzled by a bit of gore.

When will the Australian film industry produce a home grow hooligan masterpiece on par with GSH or Football Factory?

Don't tell me Bud Tingwell can't do a wog accent to tell the young 'uns what went on at Schintler Reserve in the 70's.
