Oh nice, thanks heaps for the clear reply mate!

Looks like we are in a nice position then :thumbsu:

My take on Grigg.
PSD or nothing.
Let's face it...he couldn't break into a soft Carlton midfield that was led by Judd and had very little support from supposed superstars in Gibbs and Murphy, who have turned out to be horribly disapointing footballers.
However a decent coach may make something of him. Ratten is perhaps the worst coach in the AFL. No match-day nous and has very little clue as what is going on. Dimma may get something out of him. Carlton's window is supposedly open and all they can manage is soft 1st-final losses. Can't see the window getting any bigger next year either.
PSD or nothing. That's what the PSD is there for.:)

Do you even watch football when other teams are playing other than Richmond? Out of Houli , Sherman and Grigg here is how I'd rate them

1. Grigg
2. Houli
3. Sherman

Grigg will slot into our midfield beautifully and will develop brilliantly over the year. He started the year off slow with the blues because of a niggle but when fit they didn't promote him when they should of. He was in their top 5 players in the last 5 rounds.

He'll allow us to let Deledio play down back and up forward when we are in control of games.

Can't wait

Forgot to mention , if Grigg is contracted we are going to have to pay for him. If Carlton are interested in Thursty which they should be then it will be a swap with us giving them Thursty and a solid pick up grade maybe swap 3rd rounders.

If they are not interested in Thursty which they should be then they will be after a 2nd rounder but will only get a 3rd.

Both deals I'd do for Grigg in a heart beat.

Grigg has played 18 games in 2 seasons, he is injury ridden, I can only see us losing on this big time.

Seems he will be heading our way unless the CFC ca change his mind

"RICHMOND hopes to add Shaun Grigg to its line-up during next week's official trade period after the Blue announced he wanted out of Visy Park.

However, despite rival clubs hovering as trade talks heated up in Canberra during the final days of the NAB AFL Draft Combine, Carlton is still trying to convince Grigg to change his mind and remain in the navy blue.

Grigg rang Blues football manager Steven Icke on Thursday to tell him of his desire to be traded, with the club later issuing a statement on its website confirming the 22-year-old's decision."

Loved FJ's comment:

"We think he's got lots of exciting traits and perhaps hasn't played the best he possibly could have, for one reason or another, over the past 12 months."

In other words, 'he is coached by a total dud who has no idea.'

I'll continue my rant with the fact that Grigg has played 2 maybe 3 finals games which is roughly 200% to 300% more than any other Richmond player. If he comes to the Tigers he'll be top 8 in our best and fairest next year and will be a great pick up.

Can't wait , smart move Blaire Hartley and the fact it is Carlton makes it even sweeter.

Will be an interesting test to see whether the development staff at the club can produce the outcomes they believe he has, as in the past, our club probably has the worst record for developing its list of any club in the league

The past is the past. Thank god they have Ratten.

offer hislop and thompson (no picks) for grigg , no other trade offers in this situation would be acceptable

Grigg is the handy type player of a Hislop/Thompson quality.

To actively go after him in any trade, including PSD is a massive backward step for our forward progression.

So far it seems the talk is from his management side, so fingers crossed the Tiges are just having a giggle over this stupid rumour.

disagree its a backward step for lots of reasons. yep there is risk but different sort of risk to the hislop thomson scenario.

at the end of the day it comes down to what we pay.

So your talking about a young player here that has played alot of football for a team that has finished in the top 8 the last 2 years and your wondering if he can get a game with the team that has finished 15 the last 2 years.

He is light years ahead of Hislop and Thompson and half of our list. You guys over rate our side and list so much it's not funny .

Fair bit of Carlton bashing going on in here...But it is your board so what did I expect!

In any case....

Grigg is a handy footballer. Would be in your 22 no doubt.

He is one sided, and can have poor disposal under pressure, but he is still young and certainly knows how to find the ball.

He will add some good physical size to your midfield should a trade happen, and in all honesty....you are getting a diamond in the rough, so to speak.

Carlton have not handled him in the best manner, and as such he has been lacking opportunities to play senior football. Hardwick would be a good influence on him, but he has a habbit of being petulant and that is something that would need to be knocked out of him quickly.

Not sure what a trade would be, maybe a 3 way somehow. Carlton will attempt to gain best possible currency for him, even if that means trading with a different team from you as his selected preference.

Most of my bashing was a thinly veiled swipe at what was being discussed on your board and at two posters in particular who seem to have lost all sense of reality.
Just a question though. Is his perceived petulance a result of being asked to be traded or something you saw earlier? I can't help but feel it's sour grapes.
Just asking. No biggy.

Not sour grapes at all....dont get me wrong..I am pissed he is going.

But he shows a genuine dislike for being told what to do and how to do it. He has a great deal of arrogance, which at times can be good. He has too much though, and it shows through in his training and attitude.

He does not like the fact that he has to work hard to push for a spot in the Carlton midfield, and that he was told in no uncertain terms to fix his kicking.

If he can get his head right, he will be a very good aquasition to the RFC. No doubt in your best 22.
