Well some have said he has been going well in the reserves, I can't see any reason why he hasn't been in the seniors, we have tried a few players this season and he has been nowhere near getting a game, suspicions are everywhere.

You shouldn't have made that amendment, Alpha
I had myself a great mental image of, Suspions everywhere.
Scary stuff.

Yes it is as the amendment was made.
I just liked the word: Suspions
Maybe thanks to that Dario Argento classic, Suspiria. Scary

Nice name drop, classic horror film, right up with Rosemary's baby in terms of suspense and paranoia. A visual feast too :thumbsu:

Even better was the earlier but almost forgotten, Deep Red (Profondo Rosso) with that haunting Goblins soundtrack. :thumbsu:

What's this all got to do with Grigg?
Let's make something up. :D

The coaching panel found that he was in a coven of witches?

Don't know if there's ever been a creepier soundtrack than that found in Suspiria. Just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine!

On Grigg, I really do hope we at least see what he has got to give in the seniors. Be a shame to not get another peek this year..

Good riddance if that's what he wants to do.

If that happened and we played GC in 2 years with Grigg in their side, he'd be lining up on Judd, Murph, Gibbs, McLean, Simmo, Scotland, Walker, Lucas, Carrazzo, Hadley or Robinson, any of whom would annihilate him.

At present, Grigg's game is 'get the ball, throw it on my boot as quick as I can regardless of what's going on all over the field and mongrel a finger-breaking wobbling floater vaguely in the direction Carlton are kicking'.

He's that far from our best 22 it's not funny. Longer term he'll be remembered in the same vein as your Simon Wiggins-type characters - sub-20 draft pick who never turned out to be of much real value. Wiggins was taken ahead of Scott Thompson - I can't be bothered looking but I imagine there already some players taken behind Grigg who are already decent, established AFL players.

Quite a few:

Jurt Tippet
Alwyn Davey
Kyle Remiers
Lindsay Thomas
Robbie Gray
Josh Hill
Justin Westhoff
Jessie White

Just to name a few. We all know Grigg is quite capable of breaking into the side, so not really a recruiting error.

I don't.

He got games in the last couple of seasons because we didn't have the depth that we have now.

Mitch Robinson is a fair way in front of Grigg, and he has just been sent back to the VFL for the second time this year most likely because he doesn't do damage with his disposal.

If Davies, O'Keeffe and similar types get their fitness levels up to AFL standard they could conceivably go past Grigg. Both have sound footskills and sound as though they are as hard at it as Grigg.

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see Grigg in the navy blue again, regardless of whether he heads north.

That's all bullshit.

Grigg received a rising star nomination in 2008, but had issues with his form and fitness last year.

A player who was lucky to get a game wouldn't get 28 touches against a Grand Finalist.

Grigg is a ball magnet.

I think Shaun was the leading ball winner in the U18 champs in 2006.

If Grigg was in our best 22 that week, then we'd pick him.

GC rumours wouldn't make a lick of difference at the selection table.

Playing Grigg would push up his trade value.;)

Going by Ratten's Freudian slip with his comment that stats aren't important, yet Garlett was BOG against WC with 9 tackles, Grigga might have to show that he can play accountable footy before he gets a game.

Davies and ROK haven't even played a game.

You might as well throw Tuohy up as well.

Don't have a problem with Grigg - or any player for that matter - signing for the Gold Coast or any other team

While it may be hard for supporters to see certain players go, at day's end a player doesn't owe a club any loyalty - clubs don't pick players because they're good guys, they pick and develop a player to contribute to the club's success. A club will off load a player when they reach their use by date

Doesn't sound like loyalty to me, more like a club using a player for the club's benefit

Likewise a player doesn't owe a club loyalty

Grigg as a player, often seems to just want to boot the ball long, doesn't work that hard off the ball, and basically you get the impression that he thinks himself better than what he is - doesn't realise he's competing against the best in the country and isn't willing to change his game to become more team oriented.

However has talent and has been hampered with injury, so should never dismiss a player ...

Was miles ahead of JR at the same stage in their careers.

And we all know how JR has turned it around.

Given the draft concessions GC will receive, I'll maintain that Grigg would find it harder to crack for a game with their team five years from now.

Their midfield will be incredible.

I appreciate your candour, but we'll have to disagree to disagree.

JR had demonstrated the ability to kick a decent drop punt pretty early on - Grigg's yet to do even that.

I don't care how often you get the pill if all you can do is hurriedly roost it forward with indiscriminately directed mongrel helicoptering floaters.

Simon Tregenza got heaps of the ball, but all he tended to do was either hospitalise teammates or turn it straight over. Useless.

Get him the video of Josh Kennedy's last two games for the Swans and model his game on that. Could do it very well next year.
There's always stories of missed opportunities - but the Swans getting him for pick 40-something bites - Kennedy on ball for the Blues......wow:thumbsu:

Swans are able to recruit so many decent re-treads is because they can afford to pay them more than other clubs can, because they have a bigger salary cap. Hawthorn couldn't match the the Swans offer. Mumford is another example of this.

We should use hindsight to delist Grigg and grab Barlow for his silky skills.

That must been the ghost of Camporeale who burst down the wing against Sydney and used AJ's shepherd to weight a perfect pass to the leading Garlett. You must have blinked as Grigg switched the play to a teammate lace out from the back flank. Grigga isn't Gibbs, but your comments about his disposal are way off the mark. Just like those who said Grigga was soft and didn't shepherd. Grigg's hands are good in close, so I'm not concerned about his kicking which is just one part of his game.

My only concern is that Grigg has been rather susceptible to leg injuries in the last two seasons.

We played at Etihad the week before his last game.

Hmmm.
