This game has gotten better since my last play, but still not 10/10. Experienced a few bugs and here and there. Cutscenes are too long sometimes too, but oh well.

Just beat Roman at pool and got my achievment points for it. :p

Were the islands blocked off at the start? I have just been doing missions and went on two of the other islands in a mission without even noticing if they were blocked off before or not.

No, from day go you can travel to any part of any Island.

Personally I think the cutscenes go for a while to add to the cinematic element, in past GTA's it has been a quick cutscene then your mission, this time around it brings a more cinematic/movie element to the game.

Are you sure? I was positive I saw police barriers on a few of the bridges. Can you just crash through those?

Well I haven't gone to the far left Island, so I wasn't 100%, but I have been to the other two without trouble, so I gathered that you could go to all from that, all I know that from GTA:SA if you went to one Island before you should have you got an instant 4 Star Police rating.

The 'Police Barriers' might be the poll booths, you have to pay to get across the bridge to get to any Island, but if you don't pay at the Poll Booth you do get a 1 Star Police Rating.

Little tip is that you can go through in a Police, Ambulance or Fire Truck and not have to pay.

No dude, only Duke/Broker and Bohan are available until you hook up with Playboy X, if you try and cross the bridge befroe time you get instant 6 stars apparently.

Ah ok, see I had gone to the top one and the one you start on, so I just naturally thought you could go everywhere.

Nice, will have to give that a crack later tonight:thumbsu:

EDIT: Yep, this definitely works. Just reverse up to the barricade then walk through the gap in it and viola...6 star mayhem ensures!

I haven't played online yet (wanted to get used to the game) but I will tonight, perhaps we could get some 360 players off this forum on a private match?

Never going to happen.

According to Dan Houser it is. Exact words were "I can't see how the next one can be on 360"

Extra storage is not going to affect specs at all. How could that possibly work?

Besides, the 360 version is running at 720p with 2xAA, the PS3 couldn't even handle that. They had to upscale and add some heavy filters.

Hey, I'm just quoting what Houser said. If you want to complain write a letter to Rockstar.

I was up to 37% on launch day, but started again because I felt like I'd missed some stuff (i.e. hadn't developed the friendships up as much as I wanted, executed some people I'd rather let live), I want to get as much as possible out of the campaign in my first play through to be honest.

I'm about 13% through, I'd be a lot further if I didn't go on a kneejerk killing spree after each mission.

lol, notice how when you kill people, even when they lose all their health, unless you head shot them they still sort of move around a bit and squirm? I make a point to walk around and execute every single person I kill.

i figured out why I wasnt getting any missions. I forgot to go back to Roman's after the bleed out mission. now i'm getting them from roman & Vlad.

I love beating up a woman, then watching her hobble away only to be taken out with a shot to the head.

It's the little things that count.

Why exactly would it be either of those things?

The 360 will probably go to Blu Ray by that time considering HD is as close to officailly dead as can be.

Blu ray is a crock when you consider that the warez scene has been making freaking good x264 1080p encodes that can fit in a dual layer dvd.

It begs the question (sorry richo >,>) if such a complex game like GTA4 is only 7 gigs large and the H264 codec can be manipulated to make awesome 1080p encodes that is comparable to what blu ray can offer at a much smaller size.....

why all the hype?

Dual layer dvds are obviously spacious enough to support videogames.

If anything we have lost a pretty good format in HD DVD which had plenty of room for HD formats but was also much cheaper to produce.

Yeah, I went around and made sure I finished off all the drug dealers I took out for Manny. They wriggle around on the ground until you unload a clip into them :p

Ssshhhh, you're not allowed to talk about HD DVD anymore

GTA IV is only 6 gigs.

Also look for the walk way up the middle of the bridge & you can drive all the way across it.

hey, does anyone know how to get all the 'venues' to show on your map?

I notice sometimes you'll find restaurants etc. that aren't noted on the map, and I think after going in they show on your map after that, is that right?
