There's no doubt he's in charge. Problem is he now thinks - and behaves - like he's the Emperor

Six weeks off in the middle of the season is quite staggering.
And one matter the AFL is trying to address is their perception of arrogance.

CEO of the AFL taking 6 weeks off in the middle of the season, that is bloody arrogant, and attention should be paid to this in the media.

In my role, there is no chance in hell I could get 6 weeks off, 2 weeks is encouraged but 6....jasus!

Contract? Tis a North Korea 'Beloved Leader' type arrangement, I believe.
Maybe someone needs to be hired to ensure he fails to return from his 6 week sojourn

I'm not one for the tinfoil and won't be in this case either, however one thing I observed at both the Richmond & Carlton games (I mean really noticed) was that our supporters actually understand the rules and scream accordingly - whereas the opposition tools would only need a player to be within 5 centimetres of our player whilst in possession for it to be obviously 'holding the ball'.

Frankly, we need to become more ignorant, loudass, dumb folk.

Anyone who thinks that umpires do not react to audio and mental stimulus is living in pixie land.

I was gobsmacked after watching a recent West Coast game. They boo (and I really mean boo) every free kick the opposition get. It is quite unbelievable. I do not know if I could do it but I have no doubt it assists the Eagles at home.

Am I being naive in asking why the team medical reports would be dodge in this instance?
I mean maybe before finals, when there's a chance of you playing the team again, but in normal season, why would you?

Brent and the club have accepted the three weeks

Unsurprising, from my perspective. Too little to gain and too much to lose by challenging.

Even though I shouldn't be, I'm still staggerred about how one incident (Kelly) gets thrown out completely while another (Guerra) gets 4, reduced to 3. And it just gets glossed over by the media - quick mention by Healy and Mike and move on without batting an eyelid. The MRP really needs to be taken to task when one bloke gets a holiday and another plays the next week for remarkably similar incidents (I rate Kelly's worse btw). It just can't be justified or tolerated. Suspend both or clear both but the results have to be in the same ball park. If they're not, the MRP should be forced to come out and explain the logic in why they are not. It's unacceptable.

If there's 4 weeks difference between those incidents, I'm Jennifer Hawkins.

After that knock....didn't Betts kick the goal from the boundary line....ahh yes the old delayed concussion chestnut, hope its not a cop out for being taken to the cleaners by Burgoyne.

Just read the local papers preview in which Clarkson is quoted as saying that he is expecting a goal barrage from Betts, Garlett and Yarran and will have to prepare a few of the boys to pay special attention to them.

I wonder if this was used by the MRP in choosing Guerra's intentions?

Betts and the rest of the Carlton forward line were so physically intimidated by Hawthorn it was embarrassing.

Guerra only got 4 weeks because it was considered bullying. If he had of done it to Mitch Robinson or someone with the remote traces of a nutsack he would have received two or less.

At least we have a ready made replacement for Goo in Hodge.
He would slot in there nicely and if he played this week he would have 2 weeks of match practice to prepare for the Pies.
I say do it Clarko.

The world has gone mad.

Just read the offences again.

Intentionally striking someone is 1 week (Daniel Jackson)
Rough conduct (level 3) getting 6 points is 3 weeks including spear tackles (Taylor Walker, Stewart Crameri)
Bumping someone (level 3) getting 6 points is 4 weeks

Anderson should get sacked for this ridiculous system.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/140187/default.aspx

Edit: Why isn't bumping considered rough conduct?

Add to this Lewis' ridiculous suspension after Monfries staged

And Rioli can get suspended for 'attempted striking' where others get let off for actually hitting but causing no damage.

What a joke

Second Edit:
But wait, there's more.

A level 4 intentional striking offence where you get 7 points is only worth 325 points (or 3 weeks)!
i.e. Brendan Goddard

What a sad broken system this is.

Looking at the tribunal summary that was posted earlier, it appears that at least they've fixed attempting to strike (gets a flat 80 points only)

The issue I have with this one is that it has been classed as a front on bump, but Goo appears just to turn to protect the ball from Betts and collects Bett's head because Betts is too soft to make an effort for the ball. Had Betts made an effort there would have been either a head clash or hip clash.
Bumps that aren't front on would be called rough conduct; this one should be rough conduct.
WTF is Goo supposed to do, not bend over for the ball?

MRP only came in becuase the tribunal stuffed up Brown's striking charge ("non during play therefore can't be suspended farce"). Neil Busse must be shaking his head at the joke the MRP is

I'm still amazed that senior players like Lewis and Goo can put themselves in the positions they have.

We can bitch and moan all we like about the system but the fact remains that what Goo (and Lewis a few weeks back) did was stupid.

Why place yourself in a position where your fate lies in the hands of a intellectual midget like Mark Fraser.
Let's face it, it's obvious he makes it up as he goes.

Silly , silly stuff guys
