Could definitely be a nice addition... Would be ultra happy if we end up with Gumbleton + Mason Shaw... Then we at least have a solid succession plan. Gumbleton when he has been fit is a dangerous mover and lets be frank he would be a massive upgrade on Bradley/Clarke/Griffin/Anthony as one of our forwards...

Don't want Gumbleton, if we come to rely on his contributions we will be farked come September.

He'd be very handy but what are you basing that comment on? The games that he's played over the last two years for the Bombers haven't been any more impressive than the games that Kepler has played for us. His form would be on a par with Clarke IMO, and as a forward he's better than Griffin and Anthony but Griff brings other skills to the table.

I hope we get him but not for anything more than a fourth round pick.

Basing it on him as a pure forward/mover/target. He is a better contested mark than all of those. He is a stronger body than all except maybe griffin. He can kick bags of goals bust most importantly he is a much smarter forward than all of them. That is what gets exposed in finals football... you can plug the gaps and people like bradley and clarke will get the odd 2-3 goals every few weeks but when the heat is on if they are not a smart natural forward they become redundant...

Plus, i think Sumich and Ross Lyon coaching Gumbleton will work wonders. He perfectly fits the type of player ross lyon can mould into something better.

I think Gumby would be a good fit and be able to play a role...he's dangerous enough that the third man up would have to think twice before floating over to chop out Pav. We have no miracle workers, nor should we rely on them. Those were the days of Cuddles and Croad and Co. Let's hope the boys roll the sleeves up and nail their active rest period!

Hey guys just thought i would let you know i just walked past Scott Gumbleton at the Mandurah forum, he was with one of his friends who was wearing a dockers shirt and i asked him if he was gunna be playing for us and he smiled and said we'll see what happens in the next week or two. you can read what you want in to that but his friend in the dockers shirt was pretty excited about the whole situation

I think it's fairly apparent that Gumby's available.
Just comes down to what we offer the Bombers, over on the Essendon board they're kicking up a bit of fuss.

Was he cleanly shaven? I think Gillette has made it a precondition that no one can be traded in the Gillette trade period with a three day growth

Hmm, the plot thickens.

Thanks for the update.

If we get Gumbleton then it should either be for a late pick or Roberton (definitely not Suban as I have seen on the Essendon board). Gumbleton is too injury prone and a big risk.

Why do we always go after ex Bomber or Collingwood players?

The only issue with Gumby is health, otherwise he is a straight up leading forward of quality. Clarke/Griffin are not comparable as they are ruck/forwards.

I'd be stoked if we got him and hopefully he remains on the park

Sounds like our MO around this time each year.
