Not getting enough props for his role on Friday night.

Should be played every week if he keeps that up.

His timing with Warnock was just the sort of smarts in the center we've been missing over the last 2 months.

Give the man a hand...

The issue with Hadley is that he's very inconsistent. He can put in a blinder and follow it up by some average performances where he has minimal impact on the game. When he's up and running he is very good, but when he has a bad game he really has a bad game.

Went to the game and did not pay too much attention to all the match ups, but I thought he had matched up on Jobe Watson. Watson was by far the most influential player in my opinion in the first quarter and Hadley was well beaten. I agree he came on to his own in the last where the whole team lifted and ran in packs.

Not entirely convinced he can maintain some consistency in that role. His lack of pace exposes him particularly at the Etihad. To be honest I think Scotlansd has performed the role more effectively. Playing Walker as an inside mid is on my wish list.

Ellard??????????

What he demonstrated on Friday night was what he was giving us in the second half of last season before breaking his arm. His absence from last year's EF was probably the difference between winning & losing. If he can avoid injury in the coming weeks he will be one of the keys in ensuring we make the finals & a very important presence in the finals.

When trying to pinpoint a 20-30 pass his kicking is sh*thouse - can recall at least 2 howlers in the middle that cost us badly on Friday night.

Needs to know his limitaitons and handball more often.

In saying that, he obviously adds a skillset to our midfield that has been missing most of the year. Has only played ~60 games in 10 seasons so hopefully for him he can stay injury free next year (if he's still on our list - what's his contract status?) and perform consistently.

Can see players such as Robinson, Grigg, Ellard and McLean playing his role with better skills and athleticism in the coming years.

Ellard??????????

Yes mentioned him a fair few times in other threads. Did not want to pump up his tyres too much. Walker has the speed to break the lines that Ellard doesnt. You will notice that Ellard will get caught with the ball because of his lack of burst. Having said that I think Ellard is a naturally smart footballer. I just hope the football pundits see beyond his skinny frame and height.

The thing about Hadley is that his first game back from being dropped is always great. He goes downhill from there until he's dropped again. I do like the guy though, hope he can maintain his form.

Im a hadlee fan, We missed him last year when he broke his hand. just needs some game time.

They say carlton needs a harder edge, they say carlton are down hill skiers, they say carlton don't block for judd... well it starts at the selection table and ends with robbo, ellard and hadlee. They should be played for the rest of the season ;)

Ellard??????????

I think Ellard only went to Watson in the second half. .. It looked like Ratts went Judd head2head with Watson in the 1st half. .. was hard to tell the match ups early tho. ..

Edit: I must admit I didn't notice Hadley too much as he got most of his ball where he should, in the packs. .. Played well but needs to back it up. .. Was good to see Judd and Murph able to step outside a little in the contests. ..

Ellard did go with Watson and Judd went head to head with him as well but I don't see Hadley as a shut down player anyway. Is most valuable at Stoppages as a first posession/clearance player. Reads the ruck taps particularly well.

Do agree with others in terms of consistency but at the moment I would leave him in the side for sure.

Him and Ellard worked really well at the stoppages on Friday.

Kind of makes a truism of the 'champion team over a team of champions' analogy. .. I really think it helped that Ellard, Warnock, Hampson, Grigg and Hadley have all spent a considerable time, this year, playing together in the 2s. ..
