The two teams had a scratch match yesterday down at haileybury with ivanhoe finishing with a 2-3 goal win. closely fought all game but ivanhoe held on to take it. Not something to be worried about from haileybury's point of view anyway with 10 of there starting players out. taking nothing away from ivanhoe though, they played a solid game. some good signs for the bloods with a few year 10's putting there hands up and some year 11's who could be a suprise start for round 1.
players missing yesterday were: lynch, martin, smith, vickery, scully, millard, lillie, tormey, hutchinson, white and pattinson.
top effort by ivanhoe though.

Ivanhoe are terrible, they won't even get close to the top four in the ags this year. This is a very worrying sign for Haileybury to lose this match, even with a number of regular 1sts players missing. You'd hope that these players would make at least a ten goal difference, if not Haileybury will be in deep trouble against Scotch, Xavier, and Caulfield.

not very worrying signs at all macca, hailebyury had some kids playing who will play 10 b's. it was a great opportunity for some fringe players to put there hand up and for some year 10's to get a decent run. the quality of players missing is easily accountable for 10 goals.

mate how can you have a player playing 1s who will plays 10 bs so ur saying after all the year 12s and 11s in ur school then all the 10as there were people in the team that will play 10bs. thats a joke. wha tdid you have 50-60 players out?

maybe haileybury thought they were too good and did nt need to play certain players, a bit of arrogance there maybe......then again its only a practice game, but its still good to get the team chemisty up, something which you cannot buy....

its holidays mate, a few players were away. why not give a few year 10's a run, its only a practise match. they deserve it if they have the commitment to rock up to the training sessions, even when they know they aren't going to play a game.

there were no players who will play 10bs playin against ivanhoe. it was simply majority of the team out thanks to playin tac cup, club, or injury concerns. even the players who will be playing in the main season were playing out of position or spending a decent amount of time on the bench for reasons such as giving other players opportunities or resting for further matches 2 come. this match was simply to see how some fringe players went to finalised the jumpered squad... had nothing to do with how strong haileybury really are. dont you worry haileybury will be a force during the aps season!

well put wickers, i agree. when i said 10 b's i was merely emphasising the amount of quality players we had out. dont expect anything close to this performance during the APS season.

footy is life...
who played well for the bloods? kicked goals?
u mentioned that some yr 11s may make a surprise rd 1 start on the back of this game...who were u referring to?

Yes they will be a force, however a force with out 10 good players, and not 18. No depth Hailebury this year.... dont think they are up to it.

yer no doubt haileyburys depth isnt there as much as it has been last few years.. but still there are some very good players still in the team which we can work around... we are hoping some players who have shown talent can step up week in week out and become quality players

also best 4 haieybury was probably piggin. nicopopulas, parker was good ed limon there were no real stand outs goals were spread out but as i said was hard 2 get a real look at even teh key players who were playin because of playin out of position etc

Haileybury still have some quality players who will match it with any other teams best players. The problem though, and the reason they won't compete with Scotch and Xavier, is that those teams have quality players right across the field.

the game was pretty average..
most people got kicks except for those year tens who wont get a game in the tens a side.
BEST: parker, limon, nicolopoulos, piggin, mccormack
GOALS: nearly everyone...
meehan 3, poppa 2, casey 2, perri 2, jackson 3?, mccormack, piggin
