Thoughts on what the outcome will be?
Key players?
Haileybury look strong again this year but im not sure about St Kevins, maybe they will be a surprise packet?
One thing i can tell you is that haileyburys ground looks in fabulous condition and has been turned around from the dirt pit it was a month ago.

so why hasnt st kevs had an ideal prep? i dont think many schools this year would have had great prep like haileyburys oval has only been right for one week coach been sick so i dunno if any1 has had worse prep then the bloods with just the kids and occasionally the 2nds coach helping out for pre season... so dunno what was up with st.kevs pre season but haileyburys has been far from perfect. but still the bloods will cruise through even with the amount of injury concerns.

Their pre-season has consisted of:

playing a WA side, 3 quarters with half side and then 3 quarters with the other half, played in ballarat on wednesday and carey on saturday where about 10 players had the day off bc they were sore from the game 3 days earlier. Poor pre-season program imo

Skevs have had an attrocious preseason.

The big 4 schools have had 4 or 5 decent games over the past 2 months and then another 2 months of training before that.

You all know I've been covering mainly Xavier games as the old man has had to look at a couple of boys the club has there eye on.

They have played full games against.

PEGS (both teams 3/4 strength) - Xav won by 2 goals
St Bernards (dito) - Xav won by 20 goals
Assumption (both teams almost full strength) - Xav won by 80 points
Wesley (WC at near full strength, Xav rested their top 10) - Xav won by 3 goals

Heaps better program!!!

Could we call this game the 'battle of the cheque book' ???

Both teams seem to have a quite a few players who have come to the school through invitation, to put it polically correct.

I think from this game we might be able to determine who has the better coach and recruiting department. is that a fair call?

How cn you even say that? Three players came to the school this year. Only one of them performed on the weekend, one of them didnt, and one of them is better at cricket than what he is at footy. You can not compare 3 players, to Haileybury's 15+ who are on scholarships. 3 players do not make a side, where 15 easily can
