Haileybury comfortably defeated Scotch today in what people hailed as "game of the year", 14.9.93 to 9.6.60, although the scoreline does not reflect Haileybury's dominance. Haileybury started kicking with a slight breeze and used it to their advantage kicking 3 goals in the opening 3 minutes, setting up a 4goal+ lead at quarter time. Haileybury continued to dominate but didnt really put it on the scoreboard and Scotch got to within 2 goals at half time. But that was it really, Haileybury's inaccuracy in the 3rd quarter prevented it from being a blowout - Scotch didnt score in the 3rd quarter. Haileybury got out to about a 7 goal lead during the final quarter but 2 late goals to Scotch brought it back a bit more respectable total (their only 2 goals in the second half). Also, one of the umpires was PATHETIC. Gave atleast 15 free kicks to Scotch, and gave 1 to Haileybury (the umpire with shaved hair). The free kicks he was giving were RIDICULOUS.
Best players for Haileybury were magner, plymin, rebeschini, whilst Scotch not many standouts except Barlow played well and rioli was pretty good too. The premierships is now all but won for Haileybury. Haileybury had a few players out, including Hellier and Chadwick, not sure about Scotch though but saw Ainger limping off the ground late in the first quarter holding his hamstring i think.

What were other peoples views on this game?

having watched alot of stkevs play it was predicted that hc would give scotch a bealting...they were extremely soft against stkevs, take nuttin from stkevs who are the hardest team in the league from what i have seen, but they never had a chance agaisnt the bigger better hc team

they were lucky in the end to beat an undermanned skc team, they had their superstar chris cain out who would make more then a 6 piont differnce, not to metion a few tall defenders

Stefan Erikson or whatever his name is, he's a bit of a tosser, he got a bit of flack during the 4th quarter

Did the job on the pie boy Jacobs, had two kicks for the game, hop Haileybury had the Four'n Twenty truck back up to the canteen because they would have needed it with him in the aftermatch.

Erikson shut him down completely.

Halibery cheque book paid off again with a dominating win over scotch. I heard Halibery will have a ******** team next year. Any News???

So the checkbook prevails. Very poor second half by Scotch, #24 for Haileybury was very good. Barlow, Pike and Rioli were good for Scotch

Yeh, Logan Hill is his name, he is a gun, the kid doesn't even play TAC, but should next yr...

The one thing that stood out was the defence of Haileybury. In the second half Haileybury only conceded 2 goals and both of them were when the game was all over. Comben did a magnificant job job on Sheetz, Erikson on the over rated Jacobs. And there was Luxa and Davis who showed there real experience in the defensive 50 with numerous clearences, tackles and spoiles.
The Haileybury defence has conceded the least amount of points this year, they might have a super midfield, but its the effort of the back 6 that are the unsung heroes of this side!
