Played his best game today since 2006.

Pfft, stat crazy people.

Hale is the grout of our team, along with one or two others.

Take him out and we lose a bloody lot.

And 10 possies and 9 hitout average is okay for someone who shares the ruck with someone of the calibre of MacIntosh. Lose Hale and we lose a lot of versatility.

Show me a better option and I'll defer to your bean-counting ways.

But for now, I'm happy with the way the big fella has played.

Done his bit, and I've said my bit.

Hale has gone from being our #1 ruckman in 2006 to our #2 ruckman mainly due to the hyper leap in McIntosh's ability. I had and still hope they can become one of the AFL's more potent ruck combinations which is a tantalising prospect.

I agree the role of a #2 ruckman is an important cog and provides versatility in any team however Hale hasn't lived up to earlier career expectations and his last couple of seasons have not been his best. IMO he has remained in our team last year due to the lack of an emerging ruckman in our squad.

His form today was a reminder of how valuable he can be he will need to continue this form to get us knockers off his back.

Hale's second half was brilliant, kicked goals when we needed them.

Hopefully it will silence those that knocked his selection.

More like "trout" the guys a wet fish, still giving over the shoulder frees away and not tapping to advantage, and his around the ground kicking PHEW, I admit he improved as the game went on and it is probably his best game for the year, but considering he has been useless year to date IMO its not exactly a huge step up.

As you can no doubt tell I am frustrated with his lack of development over the 6 years he has been at the club and it will take a string of quatlity games for me to see him as anything more than a back up player that is used because we have little option. Remember he is suppose to be fighting Hamish for the No1 ruck position, I'm sorry but that prospect is laughable ATM.

Nice play on words.

As for the rest of it: Meh.

The first half (and indeed the whole game) was not exactly conducive to big men! The way Sydney plays, it definitely helps if you have good skills below the knees. That's what made Hale's and Petrie's games so impressive today!

Hale played well. Took some good grabs, played well in the ruck. Back it up big fella, I hope Moran is an inclusion for Adelaide.

He was really good.
Physically imposed himself on contests, laid tackles and w generally fired up.

A big improvement on what was a handy game last week.
His season looks to be building nicely now.

I had him flagged as my future star a year and a bit ago. Showed real glimpses of that again yesterday. Hope he can go on with it. Can be a champion player - I have no doubt. Keep it up Dave! :thumbsu:

Credit where credit's due: Good game.
Tacked well, attacked the ball with courage, took some contested grabs and converted his opportunities.
I'll need to see a lot more games like this and better before I start jumping on bandwagons.
I want to believe.

Well put KK.

Funny,
A thread on Hale, yet no-ones asking for him to be traded or dropped. Amazing what a week can do for a players stocks around here.

Even more amazing what a few consecutive games and match fitness can do for a developing ruckman. Hale's coming good like most of the less excitable and short sighted on here believed would happen once he was able to establish himself and get some fitness.

Hang on mate, that is totally out of line.

Everybody knows Hale has ability, I have never seen that credibly disputed.

It's just that the bloke hasn't delivered. He has played 85 games and only 20 of them would be servicable, none of them would be deemed match winning.

And please don't blow yesterdays effort out of proportion, David is in his seventh season and he is a top ten pick.

Yesterdays effort should be the minimum expected from him.

Not excellent, but good.

He finally showed what we all know he is capable of doing.

Only one shank for the day.

Well done David.

Do it again.
Yep. I think the turning point for Hale was when I sprayed him for dropping yet another simple chest mark early in the game.

Let's see if that second half performance by Hale now becomes a weekly occurrence. One can only pray to Satan.:thumbsu:

Hang on mate,
Would you be the same Teflon Dean who wrote this not long back in this thread?

I agree that it is a strange role to give him, but don't blame Brown, blame the BLOODY COACH THAT TELLS HIM TO PLAY THERE, FFS!

All things considered, Brownie did very well.

As for Hale, he is officially out of excuses!

The bloke is like a frightened little bunny rabbit and he should be dropped this week.

Bring Smith in, Petrie can play second ruck this week as well as pinch hit up forward .

If David continues to not impose himself on the contest in the seconds and Wundke or Obst play well again, then we should promote one of them and David can bloody well stay down there.

Some of the blokes that have been delisted over the past few years have every reason to feel pissed off when they see the latitude Hale has been given by the coach.

at the moment it looks like hamish is struggling to play a whole game&if hale can give him a rest then he deserves his place in the side&anything else is a bonus!

Yes, what's the problem with that?
