Northampton probably still trumps it, but the Tiwi Islands are very very impressive. Population is approximately 2,500 across the Islands and they've produced:

Ronnie Burns
David Kantilla (didn't play VFL but was the first Islander to play in the SANFL and is in the Indigenous Team of the Century)
Adam Kerinauia
Anthony Long
Ben Long
Jake Long
Michael Long
Malcolm Lynch
Cyril Rioli
Daniel Rioli
Dean Rioli
Maurice Rioli
Willie Rioli Sr (didn't play a game for Hawthorn)
Willie Rioli Jr
Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
Ross Tungatalum (rookie listed at St Kilda)
Austin Wonaemirri

There's also 8 premierships and 3 Norm Smith Medals in there.
F***

They can also support an NTFL team that is usually all Islanders vs 7 teams drawing from the 150,000 Greater Darwin population + 4 fly-ins per game.

When I lived in Katherine the premiership largely depended on the arrival of the monsoon.

The town team was majority, but not exclusively white. They had perennially better key position players and structure and would win if the wet hadn't arrived.

If it had in the chaos and the mud the lighter framed talented indigenous players from the surrounding communities were unbeatable.
true and ive never thought about it involving the monsoon cause wet conditions sometimes favour bigger bodies

Think Northampton has it covered. Population of 800-odd

Andrew Lockyer
Tarkyn Lockyer
Daniel Chick
Josh Kennedy
Paul Hasleby
Harry Taylor
Liam Anthony
Jamie Cripps
Patrick Cripps
Tarkyn Lockyer? What? He grew up in Albany and played for North Albany.

Along with Josh Bootsma, Brad Bootsma, Ryan Brabazon, all three McGoverns, Declan Mountford, Darcy Cameron, and Marley Williams.

East Fremantle basically live off Northampton and around there, as well as around Bullcreek-Leeming.

Claremont would be cooked without the Great Southern.

Some clubs meanwhile just generally have recruits from all over.

Halls Creek is a town of about 1500 people in the eastern Kimberley region of northern WA. It is one of the most remote towns in Australia, if not the world! Made up of majority Aboriginal people of Jaru, Kija, Kukatja, Walmajarri and Gooniyandi language groups. For most of these people, their first language is Kimberley Kriol. Australian English is usually their second language.

Quite soon, Halls Creek will have four players on AFL lists. Sam Petrevski-Seton of Carlton and Cedric Cox of Brisbane were recently joined by Shane McAdam of Adelaide, and young Irving Mosquito is a part of the Hawthorn Next-Gen Academy.

Four players from a town of 1500 people seems pretty remarkable to me

Didn't Francis Waton (WCE) play junior footy for Halls Creek?

The east Kimberly football league is awesome to watch.
When I was their last it had league 11 teams to a total catchment population of about 5.5 thousand.
The rest are mainly black and their is no concept of defence everyone takes the game on and its just great also lots of speckies.
best local league ive seen
(1)How many East Kimberley games have you watched, approx.?
In dry conditions, what was the approx. average no. of speccies actually taken per game?

(2)Were many white fellas taking speccies also?

(3) What do you attribute the reasons for the aboriginals' speccie ability?

I assume very few players ever took (non-chest mark) speccies when the ball was wet?

Drilling down in relation to the amazing Tiwi Island stats mentioned above, Pirlangimpi has a population of 371.

3 Norm Smith medalists come from there.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirlangimpi

Daniel of Richmond fame hails from there too. It'd be a safe bet to say Willie (WCE) and Dean (Dons) do also, at least originally before moving interstate.

Also Halls Creek has a Clontarf academy up there.

Where theres a dedicated school/ footy academy giving kids education + footy can only be a benefit to the locals.

Also their ground was very well manicured when I was last up there.

Clontarf has to be one of the most underrated programs there is. One of the very few that are actually making a tangible difference it must be said also..and all through footy! it isn’t rocket science.

On a lighter note the footy out bush - ei outside the major centers of Alice/Katherine/Darwin - has to be seen to be believed. All out attack with multiple hangers every quarter. Every footy lover should attend a footy carnival out bish at least once in your life..absolute highlight!!

That's a bit of effort to go too to make a totally obscure point.

Francis Watson is from the community of Balgo, which is about 250k's away from Halls Creek down dirt road to get there. A VERY remote community!

Tarkyn was drafted from Albany via East Fremantle. Had to get a dispensation to play for Easts because Albany is in the Claremont zone.

Edit: I see you've already been jumped on.

Yeah I know.. but my comment was about him playing some footy at Halls Creek :thumbsu:
Would make sense... do you know much about him as a player? Haven't seen or heard anything about him.
