Hamish McIntosh

North supporters, if he is such a gun young player why is he up for trade?

The Kangas heirarchy know something the rest of us don't IMO.
To be honest, if he can't get a game ahead of David Hale, why would we want to trade for him?

Stick with Warnock IMO.

Thats a bit rough Bartram, thats the same David Hale that tore Geelongs backline a new a-hole.

Id be more worried that a guy like Todd Goldstein is being talked about on North boards as an up and coming ruckman, hes Mark Jamar all over.

If McIntosh was any good they would be trading Goldstein.

Errm... he was injured for the majority of the year and didn't get back to 100%... that's probably why mate...

But yeah... stick with err... stick with Warnock....

Hamish is a good player and would be great for us i think. H-mac and PJ in the ruck combo i think would be good. However not at any price, those saying give us number 1 for him, or give us pick 6 or better r kidding themselves, he's good, but with this yrs draft he isnt that good. Ive said b4 that if were desperatly going for a ruckman we'd take naita in the draft. But id be open to say trading green and pick 17 or 19 for him.

In saying that, id also be up for the trade of green + pick 17 for ports pick 4, n if they don't think thats enough value, hows bout Green +pick 17 & 19 for ports pick 4 & 22

**** warnock ffs! the bloke is a money eating ****wit! he deserves to play for a filth team in carlscum!

wish ppl would get over warnock the bloke has done sweet **** all!
Watts has done SFA too by those standards then, maybe we should forget him and pick up Adem Yze with the No.1 pick?

He's played 250 games, surely he's the best player then? Its got nothing to do with age or potential after all. Oh no.

McIntosh would be alright but i dare say other clubs who are nearer a premiership would give up more for him than we would.

Could easily see Hawthorn and Adelaide getting into a bidding war for him. I dare say they would give up their first rounder and then they have a better playing list to make a trade with than we do.

Id pass, he's not as much as north supporters would like you to believe he is. Hes very slow, skills are average, good endurance and good tap ruckman. Just a very poor mans Dean Cox. I wouldnt part with any first rounder for him, even if we get one from Green.
I would say he's a YOUNG Dean Cox, not a poor man's Dean Cox. He was picking up midfielder-like stats in 2007 to go with his hit-outs and was clearly number 2 ruckman in that year behind Cox. The experience of Lade got him in the AA team that year.

I don't want to trade McIntosh as he is going to dominate in the ruck for the next 5 years. I don't get people's obsession with draft picks. I wouldn't want pick 10 for him as there is no certainty that he would turn out any good. We picked Hamish with pick 9, and have spent 6 years getting him to an elite level. He is just about the last highly ranked junior ruckman I can think of that has actually got close to AA selection. If a club got him with a first-rounder, they are getting an absolute bargain.

I can see, however, that you do not wish to give up pick 1 and that's fair enough.

North are crazy if they are shopping him. I can't imagine they are, to be honest...but anything is possible.

I don't think they're shopping him around, what i got from the article i read was that they'd had some queries about him and Laidley said that if it was for the right price and he was happy to go then it might happen.

McIntosh didn't lose his place to Hale, he got injured. He's much, much better in the ruck than Hale. He's probably the second best ruck in the league.

At least someone is talking sense. He was our first ruck until he was injured against Freo. From that point on Petrie played as the leading ruckman with Hale being developed (successfully) as a key forward target.

Suggesting picks in the teens is madness. He's 24, had an outstanding 2007 before an injury-ruined 2008 and has his best years ahead of him. I wouldn't let him go for less than a top five pick and I would hope the club feels the same way.

Fell behind Hale this year, and Petrie is immovable in their 22.

Goldstein also coming along nicely so I can see why he'd want fresher pastures.
He did his PCL in the middle of the year. I'd say that would hamper his role in the side.

Fresher pastures? Let's not forget he was in the All-Australian squad, and probably unlucky to miss last year. Both Cox and Lade made it ahead of him, and they had stellar seasons.

Yeah, fair enough. Misread that one.

not even close.

Cox - numero uno

Then Sandilands and Hille

Then i would say Ottens, Charman.

Then i would say Fraser and McIntosh.

Mmm, but is trade time. Only Cox and MAYBE Sanidlands hold more value than Macca in the rucking world of the AFL due to age and current ability at their age.

I'll give you Cox, Sandilands & after this year Hille. Ottens value has gone down, but he's still top 5 and Charman would probably round out top 5. Frasers actual value as a ruckman isn't that high, he's like a better version of PJ, good player-average ruckman. Purely as a 1st ruckman i'd have McIntosh ahead of Fraser.

Even including Fraser, the youngest player there is Sandilands who's almost 26, Charman is 26, Fraser almost 27, Cox & Hille 27 & Ottens almost 29. So if 24y.o. McIntosh is rated 6th, but hasn't peaked then he holds plenty of value, scale the value vs age & he goes well inside the top 5.

As much as I'd hate to see Hamish traded I think he could bring some good.

Would the Demons consider giving up Brad Green and Nathan Carrol for Hamish and Corey Jones??

Not sure on what Dean Bailey has in mind (ie a fulll yoputh rebuilding phase) cause McIntosh and Jones may not fit into his recruitment policy

Surely the Jonathon Hay experience has scared you off trading for guys like Nathan Carroll. Believe me, you don't want him.
