Hindsight is a wonderful thing and its too early to knock the Robbie Warnock trade but I am curious as too why we didn't go after Hamish McIntosh.

Was he truly up for trade and if so was the Roos asking price sky high ?

Or maybe McIntosh's contract was not going to be cap friendly for the Blues ?

Any insightful info would be greatly appreciated.

North would have wanted pick 6 with perhaps another pick and a decent young player. Too high a price to pay.

I thought this thread would be more about being glad we didn't sacrifice for him, as much as a good a player as he is. Kreuzer, Hampson and Jacobs are developing nicely and Warnock is a beanpole who will only get better once he gets games and has a few pre seasons under the belt.

They wanted pick 6, we decided the draft was too strong.

I reckon it will work out better seeing we would have used pick 24 on robbo anyway.

Would you rather -McIntosh and Robbo
or -Yarran, Warnok and Robbo

Interesting question....one I don't think I would be able to answer for a season or 2.

I am really looking forward to see how Warnock goes once he gets on the park - I don't know much about the guy but obviously he must have some decent potential.

Dennis Commetti was saying that seaby woulda been a better option than warnock. he said that he was a proven ruckman that would have come at a better price. IMO i think warnock has more potenial, whats everyones thoughts, would seaby been a good option?

Correct. If we had been prepared to trade Pick 6, Ryan O'Keeffe would be wearing Navy Blue this year, not Hamish McIntosh. I'm comfortable with the decision that was made.

BTW I keep hearing David Hale is on the outer at North IE Trade Bait ...

would be worthwhile pursing at trade time IMHO, esp as he would come fairly cheap (not worth a 1st rounder) and could be another tall mobile option in the foward line, as well as pinch hitting in the ruck from time to time.

Hale just signed a new contract.

Yeah i would argue against Dennis on that one. Seaby is a decent ruckman, but i think Carlton were after something a little more. Personally, i think there are a handful of standout rucks in the comp, then there is a fair few who are on reasonable level pegging, Carlton certainly seem to be aiming for the next Cox/White/Fraser with Warnock. Seaby is not at that level, i dare say the lack of interest at trade time backs that up.

Whilst i have reservations about Warnock, i would be reluctant to call Seaby a proven ruckman, given that he is a pinch hitter for Cox. To be honest i don't think there's a heck of a lot between Cloke and Seaby, with the exception that Carlton depend more on Cloke than WC do on Seaby. If the two went head to head in two weeks' time, as a Carlton supporter, I wouldn't be too worried.
