THE THREE ALL-STARS HARRIS ANDREWS IS EAGER TO PLAY ALONGSIDE
Brisbane vice-captain Harris Andrews is buzzing for next Friday night’s State of Origin clash at Marvel Stadium.
Andrews is one of five Lions taking part in the bushfire relief match with the All-Australian defender to don the All-Stars jumper along with small forward Charlie Cameron and midfielder Lachie Neale.

The 23-year-old Queensland native is looking forward to rubbing shoulders with some of the league’s best, in particular Adelaide pair Brodie Smith and Rory Laird as well as West Coast’s Brad Sheppard.

“There’s a few of them, but certainly guys in the backline like Brad Sheppard and the two boys from Adelaide: Brodie Smith and Rory Laird,” Andrews told SEN Breakfast. “I’m really looking forward to getting to know them, because we’re from Brisbane we don’t really get that exposure. There’s going to be heaps of guys I’m going to meet for the first time. “I guess if we can do our little part and provide some entertainment and raise some good money for those people (affected by the bushfires), then that’s what we can do.

“I’m really excited to get down there (to Melbourne) and have the opportunity to potentially play with the best players in the game.” Andrews will be up against Brisbane teammates Dayne Zorko and Stefan Martin who were both selected for Victoria.

Could we read anything into the fact that the club has been linked with both of the Crows' Smith and Laird in recent years?

Have we been linked to Brad Shepard also?

Interesting that Dayne Zorko is all of a sudden playing for Victoria?

Ooh maybe Xorko is the wild card and he can swap sides whenever he wants?

The Brisbane Lions are the best team, with the best player, in the AFL — and they're still getting better (Dean Bilton)
You could argue that people still haven't caught on to how good Harris Andrews is. Sure, there's been a bit of buzz and some platitudes here and there, but we've yet to reach full recognition that we might be dealing with something special here.

Andrews is 23 years old, has one All Australian under his belt and is well and truly on track for a second this year, he leads the league in spoils, is fourth in intercept marks and is currently winning almost 90 per cent of his one-on-one defensive battles.

At his current pace, is it outrageous to think Andrews may end up closing in on Jeremy McGovern and Darren Glass's four All Australians? What about Alex Rance's five? Or Matthew Scarlett's six?

This is the company Andrews should be aiming to keep — not just in terms of individual honours, but premierships too.

The next Alex Rance? Why Lion cub can eclipse the Tiger king (Riley Beveridge)
IT WAS a tall, lanky teenager that caught the eye of Brisbane's Academy team.

Camped deep inside the goalsquare at full-forward, marking everything within reach and adding another five goals to his tally, the Lions thought they might have something to work with when they first laid eyes on Harris Andrews.

Only the club's recruiters thought they had uncovered the competition's next budding key forward to add to their rebuilding side. Not the next Alex Rance.

Such has been Andrews' remarkable run of form to start this interrupted 2020 season – and indeed after his stellar 2019 campaign as well – comparisons with Rance have become inevitable.

However, given the trajectory of Andrews' rapid rise, many within the competition now believe the young Lion can even eclipse the defensive feats of Rance – a player widely considered the best defender of his generation.

And many believe he can do it as soon as this year.

WHO COULD BE LEADING YOUR CLUB'S BEST AND FAIREST AWARD?
Harris Andrews

The Brisbane vice-captain is probably the All-Australian full-back to this point in the year and therefore likely looms as a big vote-getter for the Lions. The only caveat on that was Andrews somehow only finishing 10th in Brisbane’s B&F leaderboard in 2019 despite a similarly excellent year. The key defender has only really been beaten once so far this season and that was in the side’s big loss to Richmond a few weeks ago. Other than that, he has continued his emergence as one of the best defenders in the league, both one-on-one and as an intercept marker.

5 more years !!!! what a great news to start my day ! :D
