Hart for England

Getting a bit of talk now as a future England keeper. I say why not now, with the current lot making howler after howler and no real alternatives beyond them it just makes sense.

I'd expect him to be in Capello's first squad.

Capello's first squad is going to be interesting thats for sure...

Will he bite the bullet and try some new players? Or will he continue with 95% of the players Mclaren always picked?

Still a bit early for mine.

I'd expect Carson to definitely make it. Green will probably get an opportunity (had a good game on the weekend with Hart). Robinson may get another chance, while Capello could make James his version of Dino Zoff (the old Italian GK).

Hart's form has been very good in the past few weeks, but you have to remember it was only a couple of months ago that he let in 6 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (the majority of shots going through his legs).

Still he's an excellent prospect, and with Carson and Foster, England's got some good young GK's that a lot of other nations would be very envious of.

I don't expect Joe Hart to be Capello's first squad, but he's definitely a bright prospect.

Carson, Green and Robinson will probably be his goal keepers...

Apparently, he's been in contact with Carragher asking him to re-consider his retirement from International Footbal, so, obviously he rates Carragher, but I don't think he'll come out of retirement...

Will be very interesting to see what happens, rumours are that Steven Gerrard is going to be installed as Captain too

That would be the first thing I would do, better option than anyone else if you ask me. Most inspirational player they have.

Is Moomba the Soccer board troll or what. This cant be a serious post. Surely. Hes lucky to be Man Citys first choice never mind his countries.

Deadly serious and it's not just me that feels this way. He's probably the best performed English keeper this season after James.

Can't remember where I saw it, but someone was writing about the list of half a dozen young English players Capello was going to look at with a view to senior callups.

I'll see if I can find it, I know Michael Johnson was one of the names on the list.

It is NOTW, but here you go.

There was a bit more about other stuff including the captaincy (which IMO will remain with Terry).

ON FAB'S RADAR Robert Green. West Ham keeper in top form this season. Felt unfairly treated by Steve McClaren.

Glen Johnson. Disciplined by the under-21s and lost his way after move to Chelsea. But rejuvenated-and matured-under Harry Redknapp.

Leighton Baines. Long-term injury victim but Everton man will be monitored closely when he finally returns.

Michael Johnson. Manchester City midfielder who has made such an impact for Sven Goran Eriksson. A rival to the more established holding midfielders.

Leon Osman. Overlooked by McClaren but a major factor in Everton's outstanding season. Tipped for honours by David Moyes.

Gabriel Agbonlahor. Has already had a taste of the England squad and his continuing success at Villa make him an almost-cert.

Dean Ashton. Another to have a brief England experience. Fabio likes a target man-and Ashton could fit the bill.

Would Crouch not be the target man ahead of Ashton?

Leon Osman is no chance at all

Michael Johnson, perhaps... but unlikely

Ashton could feature in the squad, Agbonlahor will feature in the squad, Glen Johnson could feature and Leighton Baines probably will feature, Rob Green is a certaintly in my opinion to be one of the goal keepers.

Id play my grandma ahead of Ashton atm. If he gets a gig for England with the form hes in, then i fear for his already inflated ego. His head will explode. Infact

Cole>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ashton based on this year.

That ariticle is rubbish im afraid. Agbonlahor will be selected. The rest are so off being selected its not funny. The rest should be more concerned about there starting places for there club sides never mind country

Very fair of you to concede that Green not only has no chance, but is not really deserving of a spot.

Looks like Hart it is then.

Green still deserves a go. Best goalkeeper in the league based on ACTIM stats. 4 penalties saved in a row. Hes had a down month but hes only human. Its fair to say Green has done more this year then Hart has.

Thankfully selections aren't actually made on penalty saves, or Actim stats.

I thought you said one of the main reasons he wouldnt be selected is cos he cant save penalties. Now he is its because hes poor in the air. Whats next, dont select Rob Green, his name is a color i dont like?

Not long ago. Anyway what is selecting a goalkeeper based on? You said it isnt based on saves. What is it. Appearance. The size of there testicles?

More lies from you, very disappointing. What a ridiculous suggestion to make.

And if you need to have it explained to you, it's probably just too difficult a concept for you to understand.

Not really. Its goalkeeping. It shouldnt be difficult. Stop the ****ing ball getting in the ****ing net. It isnt rocket science like you are making it out to be

If that was the case wouldn't you be claiming Carlton Cole for Englands #1? :D

Carlton Cole would be coach/captain and have a statue of him outside Wembley Stadium if that were the case. Theyd also rename the Carling Cup the Carlton Cole cup in his honor
