I'm not old enough to really remember Royce Hart that well.

1. Carey
2. Kernahan
3. Brereton

Brereton tends to get overrated a bit, IMO.

If you want to see dominant performances in finals, go watch Carey in 1994.

Infinitely better player than Dermie and Sticks (as good as they were)

did you win the flag

7 goals in a losing grand final beats all of careys finals.
8 goals for brereton beats careys finals I would imagine

kernahan is 4th all time for finals goals, only dunstall, ablett and coventry have kicked more, and funny enough all played in more finals

the duck has quite a number of 5+bags in his finals matches . you might want to add the fact that dermie had dunstall in the forward line next to him taking away the oppositions ability to have 2 or 3 players hanging off carey evrytime he went near the ball .

im not puting any players down , theyre all greats of the game but even dunstall has said that carey has dermie covered

Buckenara, Hall, Moncrieff................

Brereton played in some fairly handy forward lines.

Kernahan has carey covered in finals
The record of 65 goals in 1 finals to what was careys???
Kernahan was much he same as carey double teamed quite abit.
but the facts are where was carey in the losing grand final against the crows, didnt see him play a lone hand like sticks in 1993, carey as a player career wise yes beats kernahan, how much is debatable, but finals wise, dont think there were too many finals players better than sticks.

They didn't do that nearly as much in the 80s/90s and even if they did you couldn't accurately tell how many goals it cost Carey, if any. Being a one-man forward line would have its advantages as well as disadvantages for a No.1 forward.

I still think Carey is No.1 though

Carey
Brereton
Hart
Kernahan

is my list. I have Brereton pretty high because of his Grand Final performances which were legendary.

Not really. it's not all about goals.

Brereten and Sticks have fantastic finals records.

But.

Carey's 94' prelim is just about the best game I've ever seen from an individual, let alone a final.

No player in the history of the game could of done anything to prevent him that day.

One of the best of all time, pre-injuries, in top form - you are going to get performances like that.

From memory he was also injured in the week leading up to that Prelim too.

Brereton played in some fairly handy forward lines.

Not sure Derm ever played with Moncrieff but if he did it was perhaps only once early on.

However, he had Curran, Matthews, Hudson etc so the point is still the same.

Never saw Hart play, but of the other 3, Carey, then Dermie/Sticks probably on a par.

People who think Brereton was overrated are kidding themselves. Guys like Carey etc modelled themselves on Brereton with work rate, physical pressure etc.

Brereton stood up on the big stage many many times. His GF's in 85 and 89 were outstanding, and his 1991 was more than handy.
