Dud, Delist.

Nahh, kidding, I reckon if he gets a good pre season into him, maybe shaves, then he could become a consistent player like Rich.

15 touches (9 kicks, 6 handballs, 2 marks) and 5 tackles.

His disposal is great, his composure is remarkable and that 5 tackles is a damn good effort.

He's one of the very promising rookies we've got, if only he'd stop going to Salon de Johnstone.

I hear you...but that wasn't the Hawker's fault...he did all the hard work to run, carry, give off the handball, get it back, give it back to Trav....who then proceeded to stuff up the next disposal royally.....BANG!!...turnover goal.

Trav should have gone with a kick straight down the line instead of going for yet another finesse.

I was talking about his hair and chin pubes, but yes, that little passage of play would have gone a lot better if he just kicked it long onto the wing after the second one-two pass.

Aside from one or two pretty bad errors, I thought TJ was one of our better players tonight.

Really liked his game tonight.

Looked composed, hard at the contest and his disposals were as good as any Lions player in a well beaten side.

I'm not sure what the stats sheet said but I thought he was one of our best.

Thoughts?

Just came to your board to comment about this guy!!

Extremely impressed by his game - looks to have a very bright career ahead of him

I really liked hawks game looks to have the goods but i give up
on hooper i think his time is up lets see what we can get for him
just doesn't work hard enough runs to wrong positions and often
just spectates.

I'm sorry to be negative but we have stuck with him on field and
lets face it hoops is a disaster off field

Love the Hawk man. Part of our big future plan now??? He is on that list that includes Redden, Rich, Sheldon, Clark, Henderson, Polkinghorne, Austin, Leauenberger, Proud, Collier and Cornelius plus pick 1 and 2 in this years draft. Looking a bright young group that Vossy wants to take to a premiership. These are his key players!

My wife really doesn't like him. To be honest, i don't see what all the fuss it about either. Trying to be on his side before the game and told her about some of the great passes he made against Carlton but all we could see were errors last night. Seems not to know when to attack the footy, rather opting to stay put and watch or not putting enough body contact into contest.

I'm not convinced. Sorry, just don't see it.

I was also very impressed. I think we may see him pushed up the ground a bit next year if the likes of Collier/Hanley come into that half back role. Getting the ball in his hands more is only going to benefit the team - he is so composed (kick to Bradshaw last week) and never panics with the footy, his kicking and decision making is also exceptional. Hard to see why he hasn't played more senior football already

He has played well over the last few weeks and has shown some good foot skills. I think that is all that can be said at the moment.

With the exception of the very few who are amongst the best (ie: Rich and Clark), I generally like to wait until a player is actually a star before discussing them in that light.

Was very impressed with that spoil in the 3rd.

Still too early to make a call but I've been impressed with his toughness, and attribute I didn't know he had. Has some things to work on defensively, but like the way he's come on.

There is a long way before Hawksley can be declared a star. However all the ingredients that makes an A grade player are there. He has shown himself to be poised, calm and collected under pressure. Skilled by foot and hand, courageous, and committed who is able to win his own footy and deliver it to advantage when required. Has demonstrated speed of mind and body who also reads the play well thus positioning himself to advantage. The more he plays the more evident it becomes that he can join Rich, Redden, Clark, Leauenberger as the next generation of elite Lions. It is now essential that we pump games into Hawksley so he can build that experience and confidence needed to get to the next level required. Developing benchmark consistency, resilience and soon enough the ability to play with a tagger on his back week in week out.

He has looked better in the 2nd half of the year, but he seems more a dependable type rather than a star to me. Defensively he is quite sound but offensively he doesn't hurt the opposition all that much. That will improve as he hones his role within the team structure, but the question mark I have is whether he has the foot speed or penetration in his kicking to have genuine hurt factor.

I think Hawkesly needs time to adjust at the senior level to the speed, to team structures and to his team mates.

More experience will improve his decision making and hopefully also his disposal. He looks or seems composed now, suggesting he likes to think about what he is doing to achieve the most effective outcome. But his disposal often lets him down. What I like about him is that he doesn't mind getting involved and that he has a crack and takes chances.

I see the potential for a dependable, thinking player with good strategic and leadership skills. I wonder if he has the potential/ability to play a Captain Kirk type role?
