We couldn't get a male for the job so settled for an unqualified woman.

Pretty clear indeed
He was having a stab at the Caro types that have criticised us for taking so long and missing a lot of good options along the way.

Ps. I'm lost in layers of sarcasm, don't know which one is which now.

More than that. "As a woman she needs to lead the charge by seriously punishing him" will be the catch cry.

Does Clarko report to the CEO, or the Board, or both? I always thought of the CEO as very much an off-field thing, outside of watching over the money (but really not getting involved in the football department spending choices).

Doesn't the Jason Burt who is the GM - Football Operations run everything footy related? Clarko reports to him I think and he in turn reports to the CEO along with the other GM's of the various business units that make up the club (I think anyways)

wow, the idea that Hawthorn Football Club would hire anyone in such a critical role as some kind of a political statement, rather than because they consider them to be the best person for the job is kind of mind-blowing. Pretty sure HFC would be more in the business of advancing the interests of HFC rather than waging culture wars, no?

Good pick

Hey never seen you get 7 likes on this board let alone for one post. Keep up the good work. I see your posting has improved.

I have no idea who she is and have never heard of her before. Plus outside the industry. Exactly the profile I had hoped for. Good luck to her and us all. Go Hawks.

I wanted to like Lance's post, but I just couldn't bring myself to acknowledge someone from the * dark side.

Took us a while to get there, but on face value looks like a great choice. I'm sure she'll prove the doubters wrong in no time. No doubt she's probably had to do so her entire career.

I believe the poster was hoping that the appointment wasn't just for diversity but the best person won.

It wasn't a competition, it was a vacancy within a business and the person who the hfc thought was the best person for the job was offered the position

Nothing to do with gender, religion, looks or sexual preferences
It's amusing that the discussion is even being had.

Great first impression after watching the press conference. It sounds like she did a bit of a Clarko and put together an outline of how she would take the club forward. A bit like what Clarko did when he came in with all the player profiles.

She spoke with great conviction and sounded like a leader should.

Also interesting that she spent a few hours with Clarko over the weekend. Good way to start :)

Sounds like a good appointment, haven't watched her press conference as yet but all reports suggest she's exactly what we need going forward.

I wish her the best of luck in guiding the Hawthorn ship in what is going to be one of the toughest and most exciting period for the club off the field.

You can imagine what the mood was like after the crap that had been dished up against the saints and If she survived that encounter, then she's up for the job

Just watched the press conference. Christ I wouldn't want to be an employee who let her down - she sounds tenacious and driven, dare say she wouldn't hesitate in letting you know you ****ed up. She seems to have a great deal of respect for Clarko too - I think the two of them are going to work incredibly well together.
