Some say his VFL finals performance saved his career... I'm not so sure but he would have been close to cut. So certainly a surprise from my point of view. That said, a lot of these fringe players have all had various injury problems over their time on the list so probably didn't get a fair run at it.

Could well be. He looks a bit rusty. Unless I hear awesome things about him in the next month I'll probably leave him out of my side.

I wouldn't bank on 100's from Langford, but as I just mentioned Suckling could be a risky pick early in the season.
what is Duryea's scoring potential for the next few seasons (for draft keepers league)

He's not a huge possession getter, hence why he's always had low scores last year. I'd look elsewhere.

He came back relatively early last year. Don't think it will happen again. Don't really a fantasy option anyway I wouldn't have thought?

It's absolutely ridiculous the hype around Suckling considering Shiels is a similar price.
My only query is whether he will have tagging duties & as already answered, if Langdon tags then it's a win win ...

I've covered most of this in other posts, but in summary;
- Suckling might need time to find his feet. Don't expect him to roll out tons straight away.
- Langford is the reason Shiels is on the ball. Don't pick Shiels unless Langford is named.
- Langford looms as the most likely of the inexperienced players to break into the senior side.

He's suspended for the first 3 rounds, so I would guess he's being managed.

Hawks fans my finger is hovering over the Select SC button for young Liam? After proving dangerous offensively in the NAB will he be permanently let off the leash or was Clarko just letting him have a bit of summer fun? Personally, I would like Sewell to get the lock-down roles but doubt he has the tank? Sewell was getting caught with the ball regularly vs North.
If young Langford can nail a run with tagging roll, Sewell's spot may be more at risk from Shiels than Hallahan?

It's hard to tell, it might depend on who we play. Sewell will probably be managed at times during the year where shiels should take his role, but this won't be the case all year round.
What's shiels' price? How much money are you looking to spend?

Mitchell, Hodge, Birchall, Burgoyne, Lake, Suckling, Schoey, Gibbo, Stratton, Duryea, Langford
Was Mitchell put back in defence last year, due to management or Sucklings ACL?
If so, Mitchell may get more time back in the midfield?
I know Schoey has a minor injury, but when he returns, does he go back with Gibbo playing 3rd tall or go forward?
Does Schoey's position affect where Hodge plays?

Shiels is $331k and I have managed to slot him in at M7 meaning I only need to find 3 midfield rookies which is easier said than done atm as apart from Polec and Ellis none of the cheaper options have knocked down the door.
The only Hawk defender I would choose for SC is Mitchell. A proven scorer who gets plenty of the ball. He will probably spend time across half-back again this year, due to management like you said.
Suckling will probably be eased back in after his ACL, most likely as the sub. Would not pick.
Birchall can often be the target of a tag which restricts his output.
I think Schoey has the potential to play at both ends of the ground, depends on where we need him. I'm guessing Hodge plays mainly midfield/half-back this year, similar to Mitchell.
