Come now, we both know that's not how it went down... Or maybe you weren't there? Too young, or were you supporting someone else at the time? Come to think of it, you do come across as more of a Rihcmond supporter.

Are you denying that the Hawks members voted no while the Dees Members voted yes, mmmm

We fought back and become the most powerful club off and on the field in Australia, while you blokes went on to be the same poor old Dees.

Spot the difference?

So it was a big fat chick was it ?? .......in which case yes. I can def see him doing that. Seems even the fatties are saying NO! to his unwanted advances.

LOL how embarrassment.

- Fatty and skinny went to the zoo, Fatty got lost in the elephant poo, Skinny went home to tell his mum, But all he got was a smack on his bum

I checked my phone this morning whilst I was on the shitter and you were posting in the Hawthorn v Geelong shitfight thread.

2 ****ing hours later you're still foaming it up in another Hawthorn thread. Classic stuff Wiggo4PM - Sticks would be proud.

Nice deflection, Its all you guys have.

Did someone create a thread on the hawk board again asking for reinforcements to protect the hawks on the bay ?

Come on Wiggo4PM you can do better.

So can you.

I just keep it to the levels dipper and bayer can understand (endless circle jerking and deflecting) otherwise good luck with evolving past the mental age of 14 in their adult lives. Do you think they get a government payday for that like disability instead of the dole ?

;)

That is exactly how it went down. The large majority of Melbourne members in attendance for the vote, voted in favour of a merger.
The Hawks members in a large majority voted against the merger and therefore preventing it.
You can pray all you like, Hawks won't merge with a shiit truck club like Melbourne.

This is a myth that Hawthorn fans have perpetuated and built on over the years. I was actually there. Hawthorn 'needed' Melbourne to take them over as they headed down the gurgler. It was a take-over, pure and simple, and that's why Hawthorn members were against it. Most Melbourne members couldn't actually get in to vote and we weren't happy about it, as we didn't want to be burdened with such a debt-making machine as Hawthorn is when they're losing. It would have been a very short term boosting of the list, for long term financial hardship.

Fortunately for all, Don Scott stepped in and rallied the few Hawks supporters that were standing by them in those dark years (5 since their last premiership, so understandable that you'd be broke and have no members by that time.) to fight and save the club themselves without depending on Melbourne's white knight.

The ones pro-takeover were able to attend, the majority of those against were locked out.
The Hawks board and supporters were all for it, until Don Scott exposed the merger for the takeover that it actually was.
In the end, by a small margin, we chose to vote Hawthorn out of existence and approx 65% of Hawthorn supporters voted against the takeover.
Don Scott and Brian Dixon played big parts in the decision to can the merger.

To put it into perspective, Hawthorn won the flag in 1991, yet were unable to attract a corporate sponsor in 1992.

You take that back campaigner. We don't want him.

The plan was still change the team name to Melbourne Hawks but drop the Hawks colours so still very much some sort of a merger.
I guess many Melbourne supporters still wish the merger/take over proceeded.
Now just look at the 2 clubs, The Hawks have made profits every single season since 2000 despite reguarly missing the finals between 2000-2008 and despite the 17 year premiership drought leading into 2008.
Melbourne have regularly churned out bigger debts each season than the original debt the Hawks had pre merger.
Melbourne are just lucky the AFL these days with all the media rights deals have an interest in maintaining an 18 team Comp.
Melbourne would have joined Fitzroy at the cemetery if not for the TV $$.

So you were actually there? In two places? And counted each vote personally

Where are you now? Fairy land?
