Hawthorn supporters must be the most sad and bitter group of people I have come across.

I know they didn't make the finals, let alone the grand final and they didn't get a chance to defend their premiership, but all I am seeing around the place is thread after thread, post after post of Hawthorn supporters having a go at Geelong for their win today.

Some of the funniest calls have been the ones saying we didn't deserve it or that if the Saints had kicked straight, they would've won. The exact same things were said about them last year.

I suppose they're bored and unhappy that they failed to do anything of note this year, but 14 other clubs were in the same position and I haven't seen nearly as much negativity directed at Geelong today as I have seen by the Hawthorn supporters.

The Round 17 win against them was almost better than today!!

Considering you weren' t good enough to make the finals then yes, you are bitter. Injuries are a perfect excuse when it suits. We had injuries too, but it drove us, it didn't give us a get out clause.

The bottom line is that the Hawks fans can get f**cked -we are now are again the reigning premiers.

I don't think there is any irony there at all. Failing to even make the finals 8 in 2009 makes the 2008 premiership win look like a fluke. That line of reasoning is fairly stragiht forward I would have thought...

haha its a funny game football, shows how important it is to kick goals these days. At least unlike a lot of hawks fans, we can actually admit that the saints were the better team today. Our straight kicking in the first half kept us in the game.

The saints tho, will be almost unstoppable nxt year unless big injuries occur, the pain of last years grand final drove us 2day and it will drive them next year 2.

We will still win it next year though cause like Harley says:

"We Are Geelong"

You say that now, there is always a chance that we wont make it next year, I'll admit that injuries screwed the hawks up at the start of the year, and from then on couldn't get there rhythm back. We had injuries in second half of year and we struggled.

We had injuries and not once used it as an excuse and we still went on to win the flag. You look at this team and only Harley is a guaranteed loss. Dash will go around again. Hawkins will only get better and there's still a few others that will be better off. I'm super excited about next year already.

Well done Catters.......deserved win, regardless of the to-and-fro on opportunites during the GF game, Cats were too mature, too tough and knew what to do to get the job done!

Saints weren't the better team, you guys were. Forget about inside 50's and shots on goal, you did the things that matter to win. That's what makes one team better than the other. Step up or step down.

I'll never understand statements like that... Geelong won the game FFS! There is no in between, it is pretty black and white. It was a hard fought contest by two great teams and in the end the Cats prevailed. In a contest for first and second place - first place always goes to the better team.

Get a grip... you may not believe it, but it isn't all about Hawthorn. I hardly think the Geelong team would copy much strategy from a team that didn't even make the finals this year. In fact, many would say that failing to make the finals in the year after winning a premiership is smoking gun evidence of a fluke.

The Geelong game plan that they learned from 2008 was probably something along the lines of: If we repeatedly miss goals from 10 metres out, we will lose the Granf Final. It is really as simple as that.
