Reckon HDFL followers are in for a massive year, the quality of the recruits coming into the league is probably as good as some major league sides would to love to boast.Someone care to have an early stab at a final 5? Just looking at the recruits coming into the league youd reckon North,Locky,Colbo,Huntly, are all going hard, might have to have a look at a few games this year in the HDFL. Good luck to all.
Locky have ;lost a lot of quality not sure where they will end up

Don't disagree but what else do clubs do?

You probably need to be 12 months down the track with discussion with Pyramid Hill and LG about a union of some sort.
This discussion will be had in a fair few areas of Victoria over the next 3-5 years as its getting harder to sustain what you used to have without regional employment, farm size and returns, and locations to attract players. The further you are from a capital/regional city the harder it is to get players and then have to pay overs as they are losing their weekend by playing 3-4 hrs away from their home. Expectation of clubs is sign players and make them hang around included in contracts but doesn't always work.
Over years it interesting to see how many players are "required" as recruits to keep clubs going. Used to only be 2-4 in a lot of country teams now half the team seems almost normal.
The last point is cost. 14 players to travel from Melbourne to HDFL games every week won't come cheap as if not much was offered why would they?

Great post, this is the biggest concern for country footy going forward, clubs paying money for players just to keep the club alive as towns populations dwindle in the the footy age bracket,

Mounts will be very good if things fall their way which is looking likely.

Youve asked for an assessment on how they are shaping up and then have declared they will be very good... Tell us a couple of the players that theyve got Bouncer boy?

14 is alot of players for Letchville Gunbower to have coming from Melbourne its obviously a battle for them to get them out of Echuca etc.

No one is game to say..by the looks of it.
Leitchville, this is not sustainable, I give them 2 years and they will be merged with Cohuna, I hear there are some committee rumblings over the money being spent and the amount of 'outsiders' playing. How would there training go having 14 senior players missing??

Semmel a huge pick up for huntly!
Can anyone give a run down on recruits/losses so far all clubs?
Gav James comes across from LVFL will be a big loss to our comp and pyramid hill. Perri also a huge loss goin over to gunbower. Love to see how he goes in a good side. I reckon you would agree Roota. Shaping up to be a competitive year in the HDFL!

I reckon Gav will kill them this year out at Huntly, Play him out on the big wings at Huntly. Not gonna get tagged like he did every week out at the Hill and if he is given space he has 1 of the best left foots going around. Gav is a ripping bloke as well which is just as important when bringing new blokes into your club. The local hairdresser at Huntly can expect a spike in profits while Gav is out there as well cause he puts a lot of time into that wig of his
