Henderson or Rich

Currently Rich has 83% of the vote... and I concur. Carlton overrate their list consistently, and Rich is a genuine young gun who would dramatically improve any midfield.

hahahaha very good idiot. :thumbsu:

But yeah nah, you're wrong.

It goes down to the same thing as the other thread. I'd take a proven player over an unknown quantity. Henderson certainly looks like he'll be a good player, but we really don't know that. Rich is going to be a star, well he already is. You can never have too many gun midfielders. Just ask Geelong and West Coast.

Of course, if Henderson ends up being a star, then Carlton will have been much better off with Henderson than Rich, because it addresses an immediate need. BUT if he doesn't make it, then just because he's a KPP, doesn't make it a win for Carlton. So only time can answer this question.

Not that it matters, Brisbane would've laughed if you requested Rich.

No one's saying Henderson > Rich.

Clubs need key forwards, and they are as rare as hens teeth.... and even more rarely traded in the way Fev was. That leaves clubs to recruit prospects and develop their own.

Clubs recruit partially on the criteria of 'requirement' (and Carlton 'require' a KPF). If they didn't, most clubs would be full of midfielders and nothing else.

Sooner or later you have to take a punt on a promising tall kid, even at the expense of a more developed midfileder (which again, we have plenty of).

And as I said, IF the promising KPP fulfills his potential, then it will be a win. But until then, it's impossible to say. You can't say Henderson purely because he is a KPF, it will depend on how he turns out. A midfield of Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Rich and then Simpson would be a HUGE difference to Simpson being your fourth midfielder.

Bump the thread in 3 years or so, Henderson could be the next Jonathon Brown or the next Tristan Walker, who knows!?

If we all had crystal balls there would hardly be any need for a poll, captain obvious.

Given no knowledge of the future, Henderson would be the correct call.

ffs.

Do this poll as recently as last week and all Carlton fans would vote for Rich.

Get over it, Fev is gone.

Henderson may or may not be a gun, chances are you will shaft him like you did Kennedy when the next chance to buy a superstar arises anyway.

What is the point of this thread? Two completely different situations for both players; one overlooked by Carlton in the draft, the other traded for.

Honestly, why not make it Kennedy vs Henderson? Makes about the same amount of sense really:confused:

Oh shut the **** up you sook.

If you'd got Rich, you'd clearly be saying the opposite. No need to cry about it, we all know you got ripped to shreds in that deal. Keep it to yourself though.

Wow, nice way to end the conversation by throwing a hissy fit. :)

I find that normally happens when posters know they've made a dick of themselves and no idea of a reasonable comeback. :)

Thanks. :thumbsu:

Why ask a question with an obvious answer and make a poll about it? Is this poll supposed to make the OP feel better about missing out on Rich?

OF course Carlton need a key position player more than another midfielder.

That's what I've been trying to tell these clowns.

Given the choice, would you take Mitch Thorp over Joel Selwood?

Yeah you would like a forward more, but that line of thought only extends to a certain point; it stops well before choosing a completely unproven KPP over a young midfielder widely regarded to be a future star.

So stop chucking a fit when someone disagrees with your opinion... you start a poll and then throw a tantrum when the majority knows you're wrong.
It makes you come across as a bit of a tool, really.

Henderson has had 2 years in the system and looks like he will be lucky to have half the career of Rich to me.

Yes Carlton need talls but they need quailty tall and Henderson is a few years away from Maybe ripping up a game or two, but Rich will dominate plenty of games for years to come and you can take that to the bank every time.

P.S Hurley has had one year in AFL and is already 3 times the player of Henderson and Carlton missed him by 1 Draft position, but maybe Carlton would have picked Yarren anyway.

Give me a lock it in Eddie gun every day of the week over a player who might be ok in key position anyday.

No doubt you're taking a chance with Henderson being a more unknown quantity. But in Carlton's situation, having so many good mids and so few good KPFs, it would be wise risk to take. Consider:

So few will be available with GC coming in and ripping the draft.
Henderson has a great pedigree and a former 1st round pick.
Had to compete with Brownshaw to get a spot.
Highly rated by Lions fans. Before the trade he was considered 'untouchable'.
We have just picked up McLean is this draft.
Henderson might be a couple of years away, but so are Carlton.

Both views are valid, but IMO I'd prefer Carlton take a promising forward to replace Kennedy whom we we lost. Another good mid is always nice, but for Carton, not a necessity.
