Hendo

Comment I heard on SEN this morning from Huddo was that Dermie was saying after teh gane yesterday that Hendo should have been rested or rotated off as in the last quarter he was gone.

Stated you could see he was working hard to get to the right position but was just too tired to hold his ground and the mark.

My thoughts are that the good sign is he is getting to the right positions so is reading the play well - something that is hard to teach.

What's not in doubt is that he is a quality human being of great character. He will go back over the summer and work hard.

We forget he also had an interrupted pre-season so fingers crossed he can hit the ground running next year and develop the big tank he needs to go to the next level.

I agree. Hendo will be an excellent player. He did NOT loose the game for us. There are a few players that was not consistent enough to be playing yesterday and it clearly showed. Top wraps for ya Hendo!

Has played less than 40 games fellas. (34 actually). Think he will impose himself on the game fairly soon.

Hendo has improved so much in the second half of this season. Tries his heart out every time and while he dropped many marks yesterday, to be honest I can't even be upset with the guy! His future's too bright to try and bag him (in a pathetic attempt to avenge yesterdays loss) and anyone with forsight can see that we need to get behind Hendo NOW... or else you'll just be jumping on the bandwagon when he starts dominating! haha

Go you good thing Lachie!

Had Hendo clunked those marks it would have been one of more dominant finals performances from a young KPF in recent times. At just 20yo I gotta say I'm really looking forward to this kids career in Navy Blue.

To me, it looks like he drops a lot of them because he reads it so well he often gets to the fall of the ball early enough to consider a chest mark, and as a result ends up trying to mark it close into his body. As a consequence he spills a lot of them because 'half-extension' is a very unnatural marking position.

He should be trying to take it early at almost full extension every time, like Riewoldt. He would mark more of them and win more frees for chopping the arms as well.

PS. Swanny, I'm cheaper than Lappin ;)

Trav Cloke had a pretty dominant finals series when he was 20 in 2007, averaging 18 disp and 10 marks along with 7 goals from 3 games against Syd, WC and Geel.

Buddy Franklin went alright in his 4th season as well in 2008.

Hendo's been fantastic this year, with what he has shown so far i would of taken a straight swap with him and Fev and to think we got Lucas as well.......great trade for us.

At just 20 he has a big engine and once he starts holding those marks he will be massive for us, he dropped some marks yesterday but the whole side ha

With the benefit of hindsight this trade may prove to be one of the best in the clubs history.

Hendo is a 20 year old KPF who has shown massive improvement this year. Another 2 to 3 years development into him and Lucas and we are going to be massive winners in this trade.

He's going to be a fantastic player for this footy club.

And so will Lucas :thumbsu:

Was at the game and love his work rate. Have you ever noticed how well he tackles? Great technique, and rarely gets an in the back decision, mooney style.

I'd like to see him work on the marking with sticks. He was always great at extending the dukes and having soft hands. He gets taken off balance sometimes when in the contest. Am very excited about the coming seasons with hendo

The thing i've noticed after the last half of the season is that its later in games when he starts dropping the so called easier marks. I seriously think its fatigue, he works that hard.

His marking isn't that bad, its certainly at a standard where he can work hard enough on it to become elite.

And working hard appears to be a very good trait with Hendo.

We need a third tall/medium marking tall (Walker maybe) to go along with just 2 small crumbers and a defensive forward such as Houlihan. Forward line is looking good for next year.

I love Hendo too much to ever be angry with him (not that anyone should be, he still made a good contribution yesterday).

:D :thumbsu:

Unfortunately it seems my group of mates has an unproportionately high amount of Hendo haters. Fortunately I'm there to even the ledger with my massive man love for him. :D

yeh this :thumbsu:

He's come on leaps & bounds the second half of the year, he works hard, I too think this trade may well be a masterstroke, he has shown so much, and a beautiful kick, and also, popular with his team mates.

Plus Lucas, another gem. :thumbsu:

What were Brisbane thinking.:p

Cloke had played 50 games as a forward by then, Lachie has played 19. At the same time as learning a new position at this level he is getting used to a new environment in his personal life and getting to know the playing group.

Funnily enough Cloke has only kicked 8 more goals than Lachie this year whilst playing 2 more games in one of the most heavily scoring teams in the AFL this year as well as being one of the most dominant.

Hendo's work rate is right up there with one of our other promising youngsters, Matty Kreuzer. Like Kreuzer, Hendo goes about his business in an unassuming, non-spectacular fashion, whilst giving so many 2nd & 3rd efforts.

With another couple of pre-seasons under his belt to build his stamina, Hendo is going to become one of the leading KP forwards in the game. His hard working attitude will make sure of this.

Pretty sure he already is one. :p:D

Really looking forward to Hendo's development in the next few years, tries his guts out and can only learn from his mistakes. He's one of the reasons to look forward to 2011.
