What does everyone think of Playfair? I think he is worth a punt for pick 44. Quite a lot of Cats fans are saying on their board that he was extrememly good down back for them in the VFL. Could be that he could play down back for us and at 198cm that would be perfect.

I'm hoping that he'll get his chance playing at the back. I actually heard that he's no good up forward :p I'm actually quite happy with that - though I thought Geelong who bite on a fourth rounder given that King was traded for something like pick 90 and I thought King had more trade value than Playfair.

Concern there is that Roos specifically targeted him as a forward.

We then felt we needed a big bodied forward in order to help Barry Hall, Michael O’Loughlin and Ryan O’Keefe.

Now obviously it doesn't mean we can't play him down back, but if you recruit a guy to play a particular role, you'd hope he could play that role and cats fans seem to have real doubts.

Statstically his best year was 2005 (20 games 17 goals).
In 2007 he played 1 game and 8 in 2006.

He's always struck me as a bit lumbering and it must be said not dissimilar in many aspects to LRT.

One LRT is useful, not sure I'd want 2. But pick #44 is really neither here nor there.

However it does intrigue me as to what will happen to Grundy.
I've never rated him; too slow for a leading forward/defender and not strong enough for a power forward.

Can't see any value in retaining Grundy, with Playfair coming to the club.

I just hope he doesn't hinder Jesse White's progress in the seniors.

Don't rate Playfair at all, but good luck to our new swan.

It is a nothing pick for us. It makes it obvious Roos is only going to select 3 players in the draft. 11, 26 & Bird. Bird is rated as a late 1st round pick in this draft.

Therefore 44 would have been used on Bird, but now 60 will instead. We are basically just going to give him a shot, certainly cannot hurt us.

agreed, why not birng home a NSW boy, he's not been given a fair chance at geelong, far as i've seen...has shown a bit
but yes, it does make you wonder where grundy now fits in, and i spose vogels too

I think that he could be good for u guys down back as u are made up of mostly small backman. Did play good for our VFL team but found it hard breaking back in to the senior side towards the end. With a little bit of work he could be a fine player for the swans all the best with our Henry!:thumbsu:

well he is an interesting freebie!!!

he is reasonably quick for his height

to play KP forward:
has to learn to kick straight ...probability 10%
has to hold marks one grab ...probability 20%
has to demand the footy in Swans f'line .....probability 5%

to play KP back maybe even FB

Get some mongrel .... probability
Build the muscle anerobic strength probability

My reco.... INTO THE GYM EVERY DAY with mouth crammed with body building supliments and weekly 10 round boxing sessions with BBBBH!:D

Henry was a star in his last season in the VFL. I think nerves got the better of him when he was promoted to play against Port. Everything that could went wrong, I am sure he has a lot to offer and I wish him all the best.

i think he's a far better option than someone such as kepler bradley

play him down back where he can be led to the ball and he'll be a much better player than up forward.
also play mattner on the wing or swans supporters will rue the day he was signed - he can run, kick and and tackle very well but is not a defender.

he can dominate in the vfl, but he is just an average footballer at afl level. he doesnt seem to be able to handle the pressure of the big stage.

who knows, maybe a new club and a new state might bring out the best in him, but at the same time he could very easily end up like the other 2 geelong rejects(chambers and spriggs).

Didnt he play in a forward line where he was used as a main target? CHF?
Where Kinglesy was your main goal kicker?
Alot different at the swans id imagine, he was picked to assist our key Fwds, and i hope play more down back.
On the others, dont remind me..
