Despite:
- Chosing Judd as captain over Pavlich (was a 50/50 call for me)
- Starting Bird over Wonaeamirri and Browne
- Gamble as emergency instead of Tippett (to replace Brown)
~400 point league win
Back on track after two sub-2000 weeks in a row which dropped me from 224th to 1587th and gave me a poor start in the league (1-2 and 14th).
Up to 816th
Have 13 trades but only $10k in the bank. Will be burning another 2 trades this round.
Given we're still 10 days out my plan is very tentative, but it looks like it'll be:
OUT - Bird & Rioli
IN - Myers/McNamara & O'Keefe/Chapman
Now to start chosing some good captains...

Created a thread on the general topic but I'll ask the question here as well.
Mattner.
Keeper or dud? Has had 3 average games (His 88 last week came from 1 1/2 quarters and he scored 10-15 in the second half).
If he is a dud, I've only got 503k to spend, falling just short of Stiffy. This assumes that I'm not trading out Roo who hopefully (fingers crossed, knock on wood, everything along those lines) is only out for 2-3. If I trade Roo I can spend more on Mattner.
Anyway first question - do I trade Mattner? Its now or never. 12 trades left but I'm happy with the rest of my team with only Houli, Palmer and Rioli needing upgrades - happy with them for the moment.
If yes, then who to?
Assuming less than 503k the main candidates are Burger, Bock and maybe MacDonald. Burger looks a tasty proposition.
If cash is not a worry Stiffy comes into play. I almost got him over Macca when I got rid of Bowden last week but went Macca (who had a bad game but will come good you hope).
So.. fire away.

Depends on how many trades you have left mate. If i had him i would be keeping him until last before i upgrade. the Palmer, Rioli, Houli run has to end eventually!

I think you might be over-reacting a bit?
Was he part of your original plan as a keeper?
I've got him but my view is that I'd rather work on upgrading the likes of Bird, Wona, McKinley, Tippett, Gamble, Rioli etc before I think about upgrading Mattner.
If he happens to be my final upgrade, great. If not, then he's not an entirely bad 21st or 22nd player.

The thing is due to the roles they play in their respective teams Houli and Palmer should continue to score reasonably well.

Fair comments no doubt.
However I don't need to upgrade Tippet, Gamble, Bird and Woenamerri. (I don't know if you looked at my team but I have those players!) because they are all sitting on my bench and still making money. McKinley will be upgraded this week pending the outcome of Roo's scans. Rioli is almost a keeper in my eyes.
Mattner is on the field. I think its more likely that Palmer, Houli and Rioli will outscore Mattner on a regular basis.
Thing is I haven't watched too many sydney games and that worries me. I'm not sure how Mattner is actually going and I don't want to trade/not trade him without an understanding on his game form.
Mattner had 15 possies, but 5 clangers if that helps
Now who do I let go N.Stevens or R.Palmer.... Both in good form and both will increase in price....As when Priddis is back from injury (2 weeks), I don't want the other guy to be sitting on the bench when I can use the cash to fix backline...
Similar scenario with N.Brown and SD.Thompson....who do I upgrade in the backline...N.Brown will get a game every week but his scores are pretty low..S.Thompson might not get a game but when he does,..he scores 60s and 70s.... I got A.Proud too but I don't think he'll increase in price at all...

Mids: Mattner, Waite (was hoping they would both end up keepers)
Cash cows: Proud, Pfieffer, Thompson
as you all would know my defence let me down this week, both my mids scored less then 50SC, but i am not worried at all, yes they will go down a bit in the next few weeks, but i feel they can get back ( both played similar games on the w/e.....Clangers galore and FA galore) that killed them, if you take all that away they wuld hav scored 80+.
I am not looking at my defence at all this trade period!

2 more weeks like this one and he's in the same boat as Mattner...
Like Big Member said, you had enough faith to pick him at the start, so I'd be tempted to keep him.
One good thing about Sydney players is that they don't have to play Sydney.

Mate you're the hard luck story of the Supercoach season so far. What with your curse on trading players into your lineup only to have a shocker, growing injury list and rookies scoring 150 points and denying you a much needed win!

I worked it out that I actually won... but my opponent picked D.Daniher who got 16DT and 0SC but since he got 0SC, his score doesnt count but his emergency Tippet who scored 90SC counts..
So I lost by 24 points cause stupid SC counts an emergency rather than a guy who plays a FULL GAME and scores 0pts..
NOW YOU KNOW HOW UNLUCKY I AM....
and yes for those who said 0SC counts...IT DOESN'T, THE EMERGENCY COMES INTO PLAY....i just got an email from HeraldSun support...
Now I'm really very very very annoyed.... DID I SAY I'M REALLY ANNOYED..I'm 0-4...Imaging winning a game but because Daniher scored 0SC instead of 20SC his emergency comes into play..
"An emergency player can replace a starting player at any moment right up to the start of a game."
If the player is in the final 22 at the start of the game his score will count regardless of how they went.
If they decapitate themselves running through the banner
Sorry mate... but that is incorrect.. I received an email from herald sun support today...
D.Daniher played a full game and had 4 possies...he scores 0sc and 16dt but my opponent was allowed to use emergency of Tippett who scored 90sc..so I lose by 24pts instead of winning by 66pts..
That is illogical to me...so that would mean if:
Daniher scored 60pts...I WIN and
Daniher scored 0pts ie less I LOSE...
doesnt make sense to me... darcy daniher...played the full game!!
Sorry about the sad stories..but this takes the cake..I think only Judd_Magic knows my sad stories..lol

This is the rule from the Herald Sun website:
When you're choosing a team for the up-coming round, you need to choose a starting 22 from your 30-man squad. You also need to choose three emergencies who will replace any players from your starting 22 who withdraw from their real-life teams at the last moment. You will also be able to select your Team Captain, who will add double his points towards your team score. Your selected vice captain will take over the captain duties and score double points, if your selected captain is a late withdrawal or doesn't play for any reason.

Now that is stiff!!!! I have often thought about your exact situation! I cant for the life of me understand why an emergency can replace a player who played and had a shocker! It must be a glitch in the system and it see's a player scoring zero as not having played??? Really unlucky mate!!!
Well technically it shouldn't since he didn't play the game....LOL
Lucky it is just for fun yet competitive in my league....
I was telling to my friend..this problem doesnt come up often as not many players scores 0SC and yet are playing...and even if they do score 0 the Supercoaches doesn't normally take notice of it because it didn't impact the results..so it's left under the carpet..
I've just been lucky (unlucky) enough for the 0SC to effect the results... Nevermind I've sent HeraldSun a follow up email referring to their own rules... Lucky I'm not going for the $30,000 where my opponent is second...otherwise there could be issues..LOL
yeah, I can't ever remember seeing an actualy playing 0 before.
Sorry if I sound like a sore loser with all these comments.
Please note there is no monetary reward in our league and I'm not going for the $30,000 or weekly prize, but rather my competitive nature with my brother, his friends and my friends and I'd like to win bragging rights and that's all.
But my view is the score '0' is just a reference point of where a person starts..It doesn't mean that '0' is some magical number which allows a person to be replace simply because they got a '0'.
For example, if clanger kings like KORNES, MATTNER and STANTON play a whole game and get 30 possessions but because they are clanger kings score they all score '0' does that mean the emergencies play? The only reason why D.Daniher doesn't bring into attention is because he had 4 possession and is not a recognised name....

No idea..I was laughing at that...well I guess he is laughing at me now
He is mybrother's mate and when I have a beer with him..I will ask him.. Well he also had Kreuzer (16) starting before Simmonds (100+) ouch...
