Quick bit of advice folks if you would?

This week: Myers- Selwood (WC) or Burton - Ross (NM) then Palmer to Hayes or Bartel

Next week: Porps - RoK

Either way I go this week I'm almost certainly going to play one down back or forward (see below for the benches), but I'm not that worried about this week's league opponent.

So- any advice on the choices I've got ahead of me? Current team:
B:Heater, Chornes, Stiffy, Bradshaw, Gilbee, Wona, Myers. (Proud, Pfeiffer)
M: Ablett, Corey, Judd, Dal, Johnstone, Cotchin (Browne, Palmer)
R: Cox, Simmonds (Kreuzer, Meesen)
F: Pav, Roo, Buddy, Brown, Tippett, Burton, Porps (McKinley, Gamble)

I think the Burton- Ross merely because it will make me more money in the short term, but I wonder if Ross will follow the well worn Kangaroo rookie path and sink from view immediately after this week, and Palmer - Hayes is also more financially sensible (Lenny's about 60K cheaper than Jimmy). It's not like Bartel is going to become unaffordable either, so I could always look at bringing him next week or so...

Bugger all in the kitty BTW.

Cheers,
m

if its any help i did burton to ross and upgraded palmer this week. :thumbsu:

Getting no response on round 16 trades...so trying here..and getting nervous since its close to lock down..

Thinking of 3 possible downgrades

1) SDT to Head, other emg hansen - so hopefully have 2 playing emergencies in time for finals

2) Kreuzer to Stefan Martin, other emg goldstien - Have cox and sandilands starting. Is this risky considering cox might be dropped end of the year and neither martin or goldstien are sure starters ?

3) Wellingham to Nick smith from sydney. Not really sure how many games he would get.

The main aim of these downgrades is to upgrade.
a)Palmer - Brent Harvey (leave me with 3 trades, $15k) (he is super consistent)
b)Palmer - Nick Dal (3 trades, 74 k) (get diversity, have no sainters)
c)Palmer - Bartel (3 trades, 75k) (means i have 3 cats in midfield)

Only risk being If Lings recovery takes longer than expected, if he isnt ready come finals time

Next round
Use leftover money to upgrade Burton.

OR

I downgrade palmer to robert eddy, leaving my bench as eddy and wellingham. And upgrade Ling to harvey (leaves me 3 trades,119k). But it also means i start cotchin for the rest of the year.
Use the money left over to pick up a murphy/o keefe/medhurst/aker/n brown next round and still have a bit left in the bank - around 50 k n 2 trades for finals.

Any suggestions would be welcome, and ur captain will get over 150x2 this week. cheers

They're both risky (not having many trades left an' all), but my first instinct was your second option- I reckon Eddy's a good chance to play a few more games this year- very pleased with him so far, and Cotchin is getting more impressive each week. And Ling - Boomer would have been a sweet trade even before Lingy got thumped.

I wonder if I can add Boomer into my deliberations??
Hope that helps a bit.

Though id hold on to porps...and downgrade myer, use the money to upgrade palmer, and the rest to upgrade burton...to someone better...like a ROK or even a medhurst..and if ur lucky...murphy

I've done the sums, and Burton - Ross gives me about 320K to add to Palmer's value, so I can take pretty much any mid I want and still have some cash left over to upgrade Porps and perhaps one of the other rookies (Myers, Tippett, Gamble, McKinley- maybe Wona - are all worth thinking about) the following week.

Still think I should probably err on the side of caution though and aim for one of the cheaper guns or at least a jabroni elite to keep as much cash in the kitty as possible. So it boils down to Hayes or Jimmy B. Boomer is Mr Consistent though, but pricier, and he and Cooney and Hodge are not going to get that much more expensive- might even go down a little- so could be upgrade targets in the next couple of weeks.

I have to say I'm leaning towards Lenny- he has been damned good the last few weeks, but Jimmy B is Jimmy B, and he might have to do more work while Yablett is hurt, which might just spur him on to the heights we saw last year. Or it might mean he's tagged even harder.

Will mull it over a little more (and see what the final Sunday teams look like in about an hour...)

Thanks for the advice so far lads.

5 trades, $400 in the bank.

Almost traded Porpylzia for Franklin last week but was in doubt and didn't. Might have gone alright in retrospect. But should I now? I have two emergencies there and one down in defence. Should I used two to down/upgrade in the backline? Selwood in perhaps and a semi-premium?
Here Spartan.

Or, I could downgrade Morton, play Valenti and cover for Porplyzia at least this week, and upgrade Myers, allowing up to about $520,000 for a premium in the backline.

So either:
1. Porplyzia to Franklin, downgrade Myers to Selwood/other rookie defender (but still need to upgrade a defender)

2. Morton to rookie forward, upgrade Myers to $520,000 forward (but be playing Valenti on field for Porplyzia, possible trade to Franklin next week)

3. Downgrade Scott D Thompson to rookie, upgrade Myers to $428,000 defender (but be playing Valenti on field for Porplyzia, possible trade to Franklin next week)

Got a coin? ;)

They're both going to have a lot of work to do this week, but I'd say there's more chance Head might win a few battles against the Demons, erm, forward line...

For the year though? Who do people think will play more games?
I'm completely undecided, I just need some input from maybe one person then I'm going to pull the trigger and welcome one A.Cooney into TheHawkWalk line-up.

Selwood or Head?

Id go head

Just going by the record of freo youngsters vs eagles youngsters

The fact that he got slotted straight into the starting line up after an withdrawl shows they willing to give him a go.

That said dont blame me completely if he gets a) dropped b) rested due to general soreness c) injured d) suspended

Good luck

Thanks mate. I know bugger-all about either of them, so any input is appreciated.:thumbsu:

I'd go option 2 SJ. Morton to Ross and then get the best defender available then upgrade Porpz next week if his diagnosis doesnt improve.

I like the Porpster, if he is only out for 3 then I'm holding on.

Bare in mind there's every chance that Chadwick calls it a day after this week...

Might need to build those backline stocks.
