More on the Hird's and some crystal ball work from the Herald Sun

Hird the news, Bombers? Mark Robinson | February 24, 2009 12:00am

HOW would you like a half-forward line in 2030 reading: Hird, Hird, Hird?

The odds, of course, are zillions to one, but crystal-balling has never been so good at Essendon.
On Friday, about 9am, James Hird and wife Tanya celebrated the arrival of baby No. 4 - and, yes, it's another boy.
His name is William Jack Hird and he follows his three siblings Stephanie, 9, Thomas, 7, and Alexander, 5.
"Everyone is healthy and happy and doing very well," Hird said yesterday.
Another father-son possibility?
"It's a bit rough of a question for a three-day-old . . . he hasn't quite got his drop punts going yet."
An Essendon spokesman said last night: "We're happy for James and Tanya having another healthy baby, but have to admit there was quiet rejoicing at the football club yesterday."
Geelong has five sons of former players on its 2009 list - Gary Ablett, Matthew Scarlett, Mark Blake, Tom Hawkins and Adam Donohue - and up until recently had Nathan Ablett, Tim Callan and David Clarke.
St Kilda hasn't had a father-son selection since 1992, when it picked David Sierakowski - son of Brian.
The plethora of daughters for the club's greats, including Tony Lockett, Danny Frawley and Nathan Burke, who have 10 daughters between them, has long been a sense of exasperation for Saints fans.
At the Bombers, four players on their current list had fathers don the red and black - Dustin Fletcher, Jobe Watson, Jay Neagle and Darcy Daniher.
Hird is a three-generational Bomber, which means the rather healthy odds of zillions to one might be overs.
