$20 an hour is more than generous. Snacks will suffice. She can eat before she gets there. Like you said, if you wanted to make dinner, the role is redundant. What exactly is she doing? Will the kids be asleep or awake etcetc

Was Kristy's great idea to have a lingerie pillow fight?
Maybe Miguel Sanchez? No need to feed them. However do not hire Lucille Botzcowski. Worse babysitter I ever got.

If so, I may be interested

Amazingly all of those Babysitters Club books are out of print now. Over 150 million of those books sold across over 200 titles. They were a publishing phenomena for a few years.

I'm not sure the old Franklin W. Dixon Hardy Boys books are in print any more either. I loved the Alfred Hitchcock Presents the Three Investigators as kid too but you can't find them anywhere other than secondhand bookshops anymore.I can't believe they are out of print. I'd have thought that shit would be timeless, like Goosebumps or The Hardy Boys.

I like my women how I like my wine; 12 years old and locked in my basementWow, blast from the past. I had maybe about 20 of those books- and they're still at my parents house.
SG dont you dare ruin my childhood book memories with your sick and twisted little mind.

Greatest kids book in history has been out of print for years. Grimble by Clement Freud is the best.
Why didn't you just look after whoever needed babysitting if your parents were having a night out?

Can I babysit? I'll do it for free if you have a 10k Home Theatre system I can use!I took my parents out as a thanks for having the kids while my Wife works once a week.
The next time the baby will already be in bed and the toddler will be ready to be read a story and will go down without a fuss within 30 mins. After that I've got an enormous library of movies and TV shows and a $10,000 home theatre on which to watch them. It's not the cost of providing a meal... it's just the arse factor of having to organise it.
I think one of the above posters put it perfectly. I'll just get a gourmet frozen pizza and put it in the freezer and let the babysitter know it's there if she is hungry. If she doesn't open it I get to cook a drunken pizza when I get home. If she does there's no way she'll eat it all and I get to eat leftover drunken pizza when I get home. Win win
a) make sure babysitter is hot
b) tell her youre cooking her dinner
c) Organise pasta from an expensive italian place
d) take all credit
e) actually have no kids - tell babysitter she is really there to baby sit you
f) have sechs for $20.00 an hour having won her over with your fine cooking skills.
g) profit
Very close to the Barny Stinson nanny interviews...
She said she didn't want to work days much at all, because with the lower wage during the day (no night penalties) and with her husband at work, the babysitter actually makes more money watching her kids than she does working! (Once tax is taken out of her wage and ofcourse the babysitter is getting paid cash in hand) -
Worse still, my workmate said that the babysitter is still a way better option than child care in terms of cost...
Crazy
The sad reality of needing that second income. You'll work for free to ensure you can keep your jobI worked a shift that I don't usually work the other day, as to did another woman who normally works nights (some people are on leave at the moment)

I guess if you had to cook something for the kids, you could just make a bit more for her? we rarely used babysitters. The girl we used was a vegetarian and always provided her own anyway. That was Mum's rationale but I work from 7-4 and I don't ever recall my employer providing me with lunch which is why I am questioning whether there is some unwritten babysitter conditions I don't know about

I never much went in the kids books section but I remember The Day my Bum Went Psycho was pretty popular amongst the young lads. There was another great one for younger kids, it was a picture book called My Hippie Grandmother. The Just! series by Andy Griffiths begs to differ.
Seriously try to find a copy of Grimble, both J.K. Rowling and Neil Gaiman cite it as an influence.Yertle The Turtle.
