Nice little fact I unearthed, but since this finals series started in 2000, we've become the first side to knock out both of the preceding years GFinalists in the finals.

2000- Essendon, Melbourne
2001 - Essendon, Brisbane Brisbane KO'd Ess, Melb missed finals
2002 - Brisbane, Collingwood Port KO'd Ess, Bris won Prem
2003 - Brisbane, Collingwood Bris KO'd Coll, Bris won Prem ; cant knock out self
2004 Port, Brisbane Port KO'd Bris, Coll missed finals
2005 - WCE, Syd Adel KO'd PA, Bris missed finals
2006 - WCE, syd WCE KO'd Syd, can't knock out self
2007 - ???, ??? Coll Ko'd WCE, SYD
