WASHINGTON -- "President Bush marked the end of the daily fast during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan Monday night by honoring Muslims living in the United States and Islamic nations that are helping in the war on terror."

Ramadan Rhetoric and Reality

This needs to happen throughout the world and by imams, clerics and sheiks, and all those truly interested in peace, not just by those Christians who truly practice it and the small number of Muslims living in this country!

Happy to Moo... if the radical Islamo-Fascist Muslims would stop invading our country and hijacking our jets (New York and Washington - 09/11/01), attacking our Naval ships (USS COLE - Yemen - 10/12/00), attacking our embassies (East Africa - 08/07/1998), and attacking our buildings (New York - WTC - 02/26/93).

Countries are harboring terrorists; Al Qaeda doesn't built terror training camps on the moon you know (!) they are operated in nations which favor terrorism...Yemen being a good example and Iraq being yet another, along with Afghanistan.

That's why the Patriot Act was instituted and the need to intercept overseas telephone calls to terror cells within our borders... Got it covered Borgsta!!

Didn't that nasty UK harbour a group of British nationals who blew up trains and buses? Cess pit of terror..... apparently got WMD's too!

O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation;

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

any evidence of Iraqi's harboring Al Qaeda before s11?

plz substantiate this claim.

the only AQ base in Iraq prior to S11 was protected by the USAF and RAAF in the no fly zone.

most other AQ operatives were being hunted down by saddam at this time.

Don't forget where the London bombers came from. Does that mean that Britain "harboured" them? Britain are your biggest ally, it would be one hell of a predicament if they (according to your logic) were harbouring terrorists.

Quit being intentionally stupid. You know what is meant by harbouring.

Sorry for being a party to derailing the thread somewhat. I appreciate your post and found both articles interesting and in particular the second link which I would recommend all take a look at.

So it seems Dubbya starting to realise "that you catch more bees with honey than vinegar"?

Nevertheless it is political point scoring and is again hypocritical

"You know that the majority of the victims of the terrorists have been innocent Muslims, and many of you have seen terrorist violence in your own cities and your streets," Bush said. "We are proud to work with you to defeat the terrorists and extremists, and help bring a brighter future to millions of Muslim people throughout the world who yearn for moderation and peace."

But when President Bush starts overgeneralizing and whitewashing reality, his shallow platitudes about Islam become a hindrance.

No I am not a muslim!

But surely USA needs to realise that given Dubbya's concurrance with similarities with Veitnam... that they just are not any good at starting and finishing wars.... but he needs to get real and be pressured ....by patriots like yourself...., to tell the truth... and acknowledge the real reasons for warfare;)

Yeah the muslim hordes are just about to bust through the Mexican border.

Of course they are. This is the only way islamo-facists can get at the US. Hijacking, strapping bombs to their children and various other gutless acts of terrorism.

Do you think they would have the balls to actually send troops to the US?

They are spineless sub-human excrement who resort to pathetic acts of desperation born from bitterness and contempt for those who have it better off than themselves.

gotta feelign that those who sat in their homes, hoping the next bomb dropped from a US fighter didnt hit their home, kind of think the same way dude.
I mean, when you talk gutless, dont forget, we are flying high above, pushing a button and then flying away. ;)

I gather you don't think invading another country and killing innocent people is an act of terrorism?

I feel for those who lost their lives, but in this case, they are an unfortunate by-product of conventional warfare, the correct description of the war in in Iraq.

Hijacking, strapping bombs to children etc, is not conventional warfare. It is gutless terrorism.

yeah, we all feel dont we, but you know what? that word "but" always seems to be following right behind too. I bet those who we feel for feel a little more comfortable knowing that we feel for them, from the other side of the globe. ;)

Dont be a pedant. And this is not a sympathy forum. Address the point.

The war in Iraq is, by definition, conventional warfare. Collateral damage is an unfortunate by-product of conventional warfare.

Terrorism is UNconventional warfare. There is no collateral damage because no 'rules of war' are applied (in accordance with the Geneva Convention).

It is simply a gutless and spineless act of desperation.

The US are following the Geneva Convention now? When did that happen?

Leaving aside your completely ridiculous comment, these acts of terrorism are still committed by people and not by nations. Iraq didnt attack the US through 9/11 (in fact they had absolutely nothing to do with it) and they were never going to attack the US. Can we really call a war that was advised against by the UN a conventional war anyway? Not too much about this invasion is conventional and this war was over about 3 years ago. Mission Accomplished!

Britain is undoubtedly harbouring terrorists. A number of ME countries have long requested the Brits hand over terrorist suspects and the Brits have refused and given them asylum.

The UK has also long been a centre for fundraising and financing of terrorism. The UK govt turned a blind eye to this in the past and is only now starting to wake up.

News out in the last couple of days is that the UK is AQ's no 1 target. Supposedly because its easier to attack than the US and also due to the large Pakistani population from which it can recruit.
