Houli and wood

Houli is a great talent which Essendon are not making using. They play him for one or two games and then drop him. They then wonder why he is not making much progress. He will be a perfect fit for GC as they will give him opportunities he deserves.

As for Wood. Unlucky for him that Collingwood got Jolly as he was looking good. May look for a trade at the end of the year to a side so he can get more games. As GC will be looking for a mature ruckman they would suit perfectly for him.

I am also from Hawks thinking Dowler may be a good pickup as a KPP. He has good pace and reads the ball well. Has a good set of hands as well. He is behind Buddy and Roughy at Hawks so as above more options available elsewhere.

Houli does have some potential there, but he won't be going anywhere unless a suitable trade is worked out. Adds some good depth to our midfield stocks.

Two players who have talent yet aren't getting games. ...
Wood isn't getting a game because he's been out injured for the last month (and for the next 3-4 weeks at least) with a finger tendon injury (it's still in plaster). I expect he will play some senior games when he recovers - depending on form (his own and others).

I'm a Houli fan, but you GC can have him, so long as Hurley, Pears, Ryder and Dempsey survive the GC/ GWS period, I can cope with any other individual leaving.

I'd imagine someone like David Myers would come up, not doing enough, but he is a athlete, has a able body, with a few injuries, question is, can GC turn him into a AFL footballer

Is this the same Wood that was traded from Lions 2/3 years ago? (Sorry, but once they got to Pies, they are verboten.)

What this thread highlights is the 3rd/4th placed men in a team for their certain posi. They don't get the games they need to develop into AFLers, and when they do, they get replaced by the A listers, at the drop of a hat. So no games, no confidence, no progress.

Further compounded by injuries caused by insufficient game time at that level. Keep an eye on it fellas and keep adding names to the list.

GC 2011 = OPPORTUNITY :thumbsu:

Feel free to take Houli if it means we get to keep Hurley. Also please take:
Atkinson, Davey, Longergan, McVeigh, Myers, Welsh and Knights. All overrated if rated at all, utterly useless. :thumbsu:

I'm a bit concerned about Tigers Reiwoldt. He's shown so much poor form and poor attitude I'm wondering if he's angling for a GC contract. He's not even being professional. GC please put a red line thru his name if you are considering him. The way he's playing, he'll most likely be available at years end. :(

I know Bach in person and he wouldn't move to GC. Has a family in VIC and recently got married. If traded, would be definitely looking to stay in Melb.

only my opinion but who noes? diffenitly feel that his been unlucky so far because wenever he would hit some good form and string some games together, he would get injured. Wouldnt mind him as a depth player at Carlton

GC would only take houli if he doesnt cost them anything....there will be plenty of other players on their list higher than houli to trade for before him..

Gold Coast are not allowed access to any of current playing lists, NOT one.

Now that doesnt fit in with the claims of fans of the existing clubs like OST of the posters on this thread.

They get a go at any uncontracted players later this year & will get to trade like all other clubs. Thats where the players you lot seem keen to off load will feature, if at all.

They got priority access to 17 y.o's & signed players like Coad from the SANFL & Harris (delisted by North).

You've got no idea. GC aren't getting a sniff of Jack Riewoldt. The way he's playing? He's only been beaten once this year and even with his inaccuracy he has more goals than anybody else from the 2006 draft or newer.

Re: Bachar Houli and Cameron Wood

Cameron Wood is definitely what you'd call a "required player" at Collingwood. A big part of our future ruck stocks. He was injured to start the season, but has been playing well at VFL level of late, and could possibly unsurp Josh Fraser as #2 Ruckman for the Pies by mid-year.

Re: Bachar Houli and Cameron Wood

I could well imagine why Wood would want to walk.
All the fanfare, bring him down for an early pick, then replace him a year or two later with a 28yo???

Beyond the "Jack Grimes!" crowd on Big Footy, there has never been much fanfare about the Wood acquistion. Wood hasn't been "replaced", nor is he "on the outer" at all. He is our future in the ruck, and as I said, Wood could (and should) permanently unsurp Josh Fraser as our #2 ruckman by midway through the season, or possibly as soon as this week if the rumours of a Fraser knee problem are true.

He has been replaced in the senior side by Jolly - yea or nay?

Houli is highly rated by Essendon but has some deficiencies in the defensive side of his game. Is regularly in the best for Bendigo and is part of the best 22 going forward. Has very family connection in Victoria and would take a reasonably good trade for him to move. Wood is still very young in rucking terms. Would be amazed if Pies traded him as Fraser seems like he is on the downward slide.

Nay. Wood was playing all pre season with Jolly and then hurt his finger, and only just came back to the VFL. Certainly hasn't been replaced by Jolly. He'll be back in the senior side on a more permanent basis once he gets back form and fitness from his injury.

Ah sorry, didn't know about the injury.
