How are Saints and Pies fans holding up?

Even as a neutral I have found this week emotionally draining. It still seems surreal that we are having another Grand Final this weekend. I am tempted not even to watch it this weekend and just find out later who won then watch the replay because I don't know if I can go through that again.

If it was Essendon I would be an emotional wreck, curled up in the foetal position in my room. So, Pies and Saints fans how are you coping?

been flat as a sh1t carters hat all week tbh. Come Saturday I'll be up and about and if we win the energy levels will hit the red zone and stay for some time.:thumbsu:

pretty good actually

more confident leading into this weekend than last, but that will all change by Friday. And then be on the up again on Saturday morning. Then down mid-morning. And so on :)

being away from Melbourne it's easier to stay away from any media hype

not sure whether, having had the draw, whether a loss this weekend will be tempered. Or whether it would be as bad as last year

personally, I am starting to enjoy the gloating of Saints fans who think because they scrambled and clawed a draw, that they have it in the bag come Saturday. If they played so well, why aren't they holding the cup? If we played so poorly, why are we playing again saturday? If they had the most dominant players in hayes and Goddard, does that mean the rest of the players let them down? Does that mean collingwood as poor as they were, have more upside?

After saturday, I was flat, didnt read any media until Sunday night. Its been a blessing all this Gazza, Bomber, Hird stuff is happening, it has been a pleasant distraction.

But I got my ticket today and am starting to feel that build up of anticipation heading into the last bit of the week and I am quietly confident Collingwood didnt play to their best, whereas St Kilda did all they could to drag us back. just a little bit of quiet confidence that we now know what will be thrown at us and will be much more attuned to what is required. We have only played one GF and havent lost. St Kilda have played 2 and havent won!!!!

A bit flat without the energy leading up to last week, not as nervous (not because I think a wins certain or more than a 50/50) just slowly winding up for saturday and hopefully a win, after all the Pies and their 12 or whatever flags they bring out every 2nd post they hopefully will have another stat in being not only the single club we have beaten for the Cup but the one we have beaten twice :p

So you're happy for the footy media to blow smoke up your arse for the last couple of months & now get all shirty when they realise there was another football team playing in the GF? It's a 2 horse race - still, but whatever blows your skirt up precious.

Harden up.

I'm OK at this point...

Was worried about a few of the guys, but watching all of Dal, Gram and Dempster sprinting and kicking goals at training put me at ease.

I have said all week on here, that I see no valid reason for either side surrending the game at any point. Probably will be very close again...

Happy to be alive. We blew last week then prevented a loss at the last minute. I am sure Saints supporters feel the same sence of a mixture of a missed chance and retrieving a loss from last week.

This week is open to all possibilities. I am confident and pessimistic at the same time

Thought Saints were fantastic last week as were our mob. There will be an affinity felt betwwen supporters on Sat even though one will be devestated by loss. This will be even more so if its close again.

Win or lose I will be tipping my hat to Saints players as well as Pies on Sat night

I think the boys played valiantly in order to score a draw, and i think you'll find either very few or no Saints supporters who think this game is in the bag

So, Pies and Saints fans how are you coping?
Shit, absolutely shit

better post than most of the chest beating going on here...

I wonder if 1/2 the tossers from the collingwood or st kilda fandom posting shiz here believe half of what they say><

I'm ok but I'm fearing a loss coz I'm always pessimistic about the pies!

Feel we screwed it up last week but at the same time were lucky in the end to get a draw.

Can't help but feel there are massive forces working against us that seem to dog us and GF's!

Spent a shit load on a ticket/accommodation/airfares/spending money to travel over for last weeks game and am doing the same again this week.

Know that come Saturday afternoon I'll either be witness to one of the most epic GF victories ever or i will have the most expensive f'ing disaster on my hands!!!

Worried about how the players have handled this. Can't help but think they think similar to me and that they screwed it and should have won and i worry that this may be an issue whereby i think the saints look like they have handled it very well from the moment the siren went!

Have NFI or inclination as to what will happen! We could pump them and i wouldn't be surprised, they could do the same and I also wouldn't be shocked!

Just want to win one bloody flag!!! Do not believe there is next year despite our team looking like another year would not hurt development of many players....too many things change in footy to think you'll get another chance the next year!

This is our year. If we lose, we have f***ed it up big time!!!

Drained.

But its lose lose for Pies.

Even if we win the wider AFL jerks will not accept it as a real premiership because of the draw.

Never been sledged so much in one week by Tiger, Blues, Swans and Cats fans? Don't think they realise we flogged each of them during the year and drew with a very respectable club St Kilda in the game no other teams could make.

Much less nervous than last week. I think with about 5 minutes to go, I was reconciling myself with the fact that we were about to blow another Grand Final. It was a relief to get another crack at it.

I'm nowhere near as excited as last week though and am looking forward to the season being over, whatever the result. Emotions are a mixture of apathy, impatience, dread and excitement. I'm sure the excitement levels and nerves will build as the day approaches.

fantastic - get to see my team in three GFs in two years - not bad given i've only seen them in one before that (born in 67 and too young for v hawks GF)

and hopefully i'll even see them win - but up til now last saturday was the best result i've seen them achieve!

relaxed and looking forward to a great game!

Quite relaxed. Looking forward to some Lionel Richie!

No matter the result on Saturday, both Saints and Pies fans should be proud of their club, and feel privileged to have witnessed and been a part of something rare and historic.

I'm sure by Friday night or Saturday morning, the nerves will hit me again and all this will be out the window though.

holding up ? im rapt the footy goes for another week but the draw seems to have thrown everything put of whack. its not grand final week, cos theres no stupid events to distract us from the game. its not the week AFTER the grand final cos theres no one gloating that their team won.

expecting the world to return to normal 2.30 saturday.

after round 22, and after week 1 of the finals, i figured the saints were the team to beat, due to quality of playing group & team strategy. i also believed the swans were the one team that could trouble the saints and help the pies in their run to the flag if those two had met. but it wasnt to be.

all last week i kept believing the saints would win, tho as i also posted elsewhere, i couldnt see how a team leading the cats by 81 points early in the 3rd could then lose the week later. torn between beliefs.

anyway having settled down a bit now i do firmly believe the pies can actually win it. i just feel most of the saints game winners did as expected, while far too many high ranked pies still have a lot to provide. nick riewoldt is still the wildcard (nathan brown played him beautifully) and monty & NDS can lift, but theres a whole list of pies who have the opportunity to bring their A game and bring home the bacon.

not long now.

I dont think anyone assumes anything else other than that there are 2 teams left. But perhaps you should speak to a few of your cohorts like plugger35 and co who have been building a cabinet for this cup after last saturday. The only smoke blowing I have seen is from the likes of him.

But what we are left to read what happened is that St Kilda won the game last saturday and this week is just a formality. I have a slightly different view of what will happen but its based more in hope than anything else. All I know for sure is that we have played each other 3 times in fair dinkum games, for a win each and a draw. The game will come down to a number of factors, including who controls the stoppages, if Collingwood can minimise the stoppages and run St Kilda wide and present more forward of the ball carrier than they did last week, who can maintain momentum longer and make it count on the scoreboard deep into the match.

And what, the entire week leading up to last Saturday when ur mob had it won and we had no chance was OK with you?

You lot are still favourites.

No, but the same mob that criticised Collingwood supporters for being over confident are now doing the same. Isn't that hypocrisy?

We might be favourites in the eyes of the bookies, but that would be on the weight of money from a lot of Collingwood supporters and maybe a bit on the ladder position. Logic should dictate that if nothing much changes in the teams selection, then the price should be so close it wouldnt be worth using it as a measure. The draw I think tells us all how the game should be assessed, tighter than a fishes clacker.
