How did Hawthorn walk?It Mathew Clarke that should take the hit.
Every club will have a view on how hawthorn just walked and left em in a really sh.t spot though

Not sure how much is his fault, and how much is the Board wanting a light rebuild and top up.
Matty Knights patented that move.reminds me of when I think it was Scott Watters got the Saints job because he told the board what they wanted to hear - they didn't need to rebiuld, they just needed to get some mature agers and double down on the list because "the talent was there"
This one isn't on him and I don't think clubs will hold it against him.
There was probably some sense in splitting the pick - two picks in the early teens in a good draft might be better overall than one early pick.
Going on to torch one on a solid player like Baker is baffling.
Whoever is pushing it behind the scenes, McQualter is the one that will be left holding the responsibility down the line. If pick 3 ends up the next Chris Judd when they split that pick to be pick up one of his mates from his former club, they will go nuclear on him.
Only 3 games in. Eagles have been competitive despite being winless. The team will be better than last year, Baker and Owies are still good additions, despite the ridiculous cost
He will be fine im sure, at least for couple years
Early draw certainly didnt help us, teams with strong midfields are our worst enemy, and we came against 3 sides whose midfields are supposedly very strong.Only 3 games in. Eagles have been competitive despite being winless.
Another 20 games to go....
Tbh I didnt get that vibe from Fagan or Mcrae eitherJust doesn’t have the vibe of an AFL coach to him. Also thought the same about Noble and Yze.
Well some predicted west coast will win that 5th flag in 2030 going by the previous 12 year pattern of 1994, 2006 and 2018.Some people would wait for him to coach for 2-3 years before talking about sacking him but this is Bigfooty.
Gather round vs Carlton next. After that is 2 winnable home games. Essendon in round 6.As a first year coach trying to implement a new game plan, he’s been absolutely stiffed by the early draw…Brisbane, GWS & Hawks the first three away games (not inc. gather round). Very likely to be 0-7, at best 1-6 if they can snag the Essendon game at home.
It opens up after that a bit more, but going to be some pain through April I feel…
The year before they had pick 1 and pick 30 due to the AFL's f#*cked draft system, takes a long time to build a team at that rate, especially when the team immediately above them on the ladder got 5 picks in the top 30 due to AFL handouts. There was probably some sense in splitting the pick - two picks in the early teens in a good draft might be better overall than one early pick.
