How bad is Brett Lee at the minute

Dizzy wasn't really given the opportunity, he tore a hole in the FC cricket when he was dropped from the test arena (unlike some who complain that their FC form failure was caused by being ill treated by the selectors).

And to be honest, our FC competition is currently the strongest in the world, batsman perform better on the test arena than they do in the FC arena. Siddle isn't even the best victorian bowler and he's performing adequately, and FC batsman scorn the rubbish hauritz bowls 77 wickets at nearly 50 from 40 odd FC games is embarrassing, and yet he performs well at the test level.

that would indicate, on form, dizzy was prematurely ejected from the test arena, he pretty much gave up i reckon after he was dumped from the test side after 2006. but he was never afforded the luxuries of being carried for more than 1 series.

Go take some more drugs. Name 15 better Test bowlers than Binga. And consistency is a criteria.

consistency you say? 70 odd test matches taking wickets at an average of above 30 is enough time to show that he is a good bowler without being a great bowler.

when he loses his cool he starts bowling pies and leaking like a sieve.

for a bowler capable of devastating spells, he still behaves like a petulant pie tosser when he doesn't get his way.

he'll certainly isn't rubbish, but he isn't in the league of the great fast bowlers.

its laughable that someone compared him to alan donald who was a great test fast bowler, and a several leagues in quality above lee.

Dizzy was very, very stiff to get dropped, many other players were carried through longer stretches of poor form.

as for bowlers better than lee, in no particular order, just in the last 25 years:

lillee, hadlee, McGrath, Warne, McGilla, Gillespie, Hughes, McDermott, Hadlee, Alan Donald, Shaun Pillock, Ntini, Muraliduran, chaminda Vaas, Darren Gough, Curtly ambrose, Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, holding, wasim akram, waqar Younis, imran khan, Kapil Dev, and thats just a quick summary.

You mean of all time, all the great australian bowlers?

Arthur Mailey
Bill O'Reilly
Ray Lindwall
Alan Davidson
Clarrie Grimmett
Dennis Lillee
Thommo
Shane Warne
McGrath
Richie Benaud
Stuart Macgill
Keith Miller
Ashley Mallet
Craig McDermott
Jason Gillespie

Those guys are some of the best Australian bowlers I can think of who are all better than Lee over their careers. That's with my limited knowledge in the history of Australian cricket, too

Didn't Lee suffer from back injuries very early in his career? I'd imagine that would have had an effect on his bowling. He started in a blaze of glory and you don't just lose that talent, but he fell away very quickly.

Alderman
Trumble
Reid
Reiffel

to name a few more...

Regardless of this list in terms of Lee (which is interesting - mallet no way!), l find Garth Mckenzie is nearly always forgotten in these kind of lists. Good record, rated by his peers it seems and could have been even more if not for contextual reasons.

Styne is nothing like Binga ever bowled. Binga is low and quick, uses his back and hips. Styne is more of a faster Glen McGrah, arms and legs. Styne will never bowl as fast as Binga did. Capable of 160 kmh. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

Steyn (note the spelling) will go down in history as a far greater bowler than Brett Lee.

See the thing is, even when he is bowling well, there is always at least one pie an over. He never really learnt to dominate batsmen in the way that Mcgrath or Ambrose did.

How bad is Brett Lee at the minute?

He is as bad as his singing.

Nah disagree. When he is at his best he is a gun. He was terrific last year, we would have won the first test if he had been in that form.

That just isn't true. Why would you post that?

Lees last 8 tests (4v Ind, 2NZ and 2 RSA)

21 wickets at 45.47

and of those, 9 were taken at adelaide against NZ's young, inexperienced batting line up

Troll, should be banned from the Cricket forum. When Binga was going well, you would be the first to suck his Binga.
