How does Leon Cameron escape criticism?

Because he wasn't the professional organisation that allegedly relied on a verbal commitment over a signed contract. ......
He is a professional coach who has a signed contract to be an assistant at Hawthorn next year. Hawthorn have indicated that they would release him from that contract if he was to be offered a senior coaching role. So he has breached his signed contract with Hawthorn to take up an assistants role at GWS.

I'm with Ford, the media beat up on Port over this situation just a case of kicking us while we're down.

If he has breached his contract there will be reprisals. I doubt it though.

Don't get me wrong at all.

I hope Leon Cameron get's leprosy. I also hope that Sheedy hangs onto the job for the next decade like he did at Essendon and Cameron never gets a job, and if he does get a job he is the coaching lovechild of Tim Watson and Richmond era Terry Wallace.

I hope we sign someone who hits the ground running and improves us instantly, and when we're playing off in our next Grand Final, there are several articles in newspapers about how good the list obviously was and how it could be Leon Cameron on the doorstep of being a premiership coach if only he hadn't turned us down to be a perpetual assistant/worst head coach of all time.

I hope within the next decade, Leon Cameron is unemployable in AFL football.

I think we should encourage Chad and Broges to sledge him at training. Get them pumped up about it like its a showdown game.

Its because of the media.

You guys actually did the right thing and kept all information on who you were going to appoint in house. No leaks to the media.

As a result of this, a number of them were required to make up stories in an attempt to look informed. Look back and think about how many people they have reported will be the head coach...Eade, Ratten, Cameron  They are just making shit up.

Now Cameron has not signed as they had reported he already had, someone has to pay the price... if you guys had just leaked like they wanted in the first place, the media would not look like fools... so they are taking it out on Port.

I actually don't believe this is as big a deal as the media are making it out to be.... is Cameron really that much in demand?? Is he by the length of the straight the best coach available? I'd say no, if he was he would have been the first name mentioned, would have been considered for Carlton and would have been considered for all the other coaching jobs over the past 2 years.

Didn't Melbourne have the big win last year by taking Neald from the Crows.... how did that work out for them?

When it was announced I thought we were looking like a laughing stock (again), but then reality took over and I felt we'd find a suitable replacement. So it was with simple interest that I watched the press conference from GWS and Cameron, and I came to a conclusion.

He just didn't seem that knowledgeable, confident, inspiring or savvy. No sour grapes, just an observation. I have a feeling that we'll see a very different persona from Hinkley.

Starting to feel relieved at how this has played out to be honest. At the very last minute, our club didn't get shafted by a money hungry, risk averse, easy-way-out seeking Hawthorn assistant coach. Whew. Can we all move on please ?

I see whwre you coming from ford. ... I think its just a product of secrets that the media can't break and someone has to pay for it and kicking port has been the flavour of the year so far
