Well at least we had more than 23k through the gate boosted by 5k free tickets.

What's you excuse going to be when you play Gold Coast?
What a clash of the titans that promises to be. Might as well play it on Max Basheer reserve.

How Gold Coast can draw a bigger crowd than Port Power aka the most successful football club in the history of the universe is staggering.
Even rushyte cant understand it.

The other 270,000 supposed Port supporters in SA need to answer for turning their back on a football club that since 1870 has given them more pride than pain.

It's called novelty. Lets see how many casual spectators keep turning up after they repeatedly get flogged by 100 points every game this season.

Haha I love the old saturday afternoon excuse. I was at the pub on Sunday talking with some feral Port supporter while I was having a smoke and he said that the AFL should never fixture Port to play on Saturday afternoons ever again because everyone has commitments and sport so it decreases crowd numbers

Yeah, because no other states have sport on Saturdays, or commitments.

For how much this wank fest of a day was getting talked up and how important it was to the club PLUS having a curtain raiser prior to the main event, how they managed to only pull 23k is beyond me. It's a true reflection of where the club is heading.

Gee, for someone who obviously lacks the necessary nous for constructing a proper sentence, I wouldn't be throwing that accusation around willy nilly.

I was just asking a simple question anyway. Is the reason for Port Power's drop in crowds due to the fact that, according to you, the novelty of supporting Port Power has dropped off?

Learn to comprehend sentences... I said in reply to a topic about GOLD COAST that they got such a high number coz it was a novelty seeing them play initially. I also made a comment about them losing by over 100 points. Feel free to correct me but weren't GOLD COAST the only team that lost by over 100 points on the weekend? So i don't see how you managed to think i was talking about Port after my reply was specifically related to another post about GOLD COAST. Also my comment to you was more in general coz in the motlop thread you couldn't even decipher the difference between 'assault' and 'offensive language'.

Yes, I can comprehend sentences. Just not verbal diarrhea like the above.

Anyway, I am fully aware that you were referring to the Gold Coast while mentioning the novelty factor. Hence, I decided to draw a parallel to the situation at hand with Port Power.

Do you think that Port Power's drop in crowds is due to the fact that the novelty factor which you are predicting will drop off for the Gold Coast has, in fact, already levelled off for the Power?

So pooorts first home game a whopping 23,241
The suns in a non football state 27,914

Camry Crows 42,536

There never has been a novelty factor supporting the Power though and any South Australian can tell you the same. The crows were the first SA club introduced into the AFL. Thus, the crows picked up the greatest initial fan base coz they call themselves Adelaide and didn't really have any prior ties. Port Adelaide on the other hand came out 2nd and have never really had the novelty factor. When i was in school 90% of the other kids all went for Crows. Also just after Port got established Crows had the 97/98 premierships. So any impartial fan would've jumped on the crows bandwagon since they were the 'back2back' team while Port were just an average team around that time. Even in 2001-2004 which was the time when Port were the dominant SA team there was never any novelty in supporting then. 90% of the people i mentioned b4 still went for the crows coz once you go for a team you never change. Ports never been a novelty team and it never will be.
