How pissweak is Channel 7?

Makes you appreciate just how good Channel 10's coverage is

Forget the fact that most people hate their commentary team and they are far and away the best in the business

Tragedy that Channel 7 are doing the GF this year

Channel 10's coverage of big games>>>>>>>>>>>>>

:thumbsu: Foxtel cover sport so much better than free to air channels.

Its a shame its a bit expensive but Channel 7 are just rats.

The Marketing gurus at Foxtel are stupid. If I want to watch Football on Pay TV, I have to pay a rediculous $56 a month. Even though I only want to watch Footy.

They are money grabbing pricks.

Do they not realize, that if they offered a sports only package of say $20 a month, they would sign up thousands of new subscribers. Like me. But I will not ever pay $56 a month to watch a few games of football.

This is why I want sport to be free. And as for the full service, tv is not worth $110 a month, So FK off Foxtel.

No TV coverage of the club song?

Sounds like heaven.

Well done Ch7; have been waiting for those tediously boring and cringeworthy shots to be taken off the air for years. :thumbsu:

thought it was just me, but obviously not.

a group of blokes yelling a tuneless dirge on TV. no thanks.

For those that missed the post game coverage of the Swans v Carlton in the 1st Elimination Final, I uploaded a little of Channel 7's coverage after the game.

:D

I take it you must be in one of the flood-ravaged areas at the moment, and are confined indoors. (In which case, my commiserations.)

Because I can think of no other reason why anyone with any mental capacities at all would willingly subject themselves to enduring another half hour of Bruce Macavaney, Dennis Commetti and Captain and Vice-Captain Obvious, Tom Harley and Leigh Matthews.

If not, then you seriously need to get a life.

All they would have done even if the coverage had stayed on would have been to gush about Kirk and Roos (and maybe Goodes and Judd) ad nauseum. They would have gone overboard about Hall v the Swans next week. And maybe about Harvey v Thompson. Then patched it together with 20 (of the 30) minutes of ads, as well as a promo for Fremantle v Geelong next Friday on high rotation.

I, for one, am extremely thankful they pulled the plug.

Fair point.

Let's be honest, apart from the song it's empty dribble by some overpaid blow hards.

God forbid they'd do some live cross to that ****stick Hamish Mclaughlin.

Camera angles were ****ing appalling. Could barely see anything.

They also have a tendancy to show replays as play unfolds so you miss everything.

Terrible coverage.

It was pretty bad, except for one lingering close-up of Sam Jacobs crotch.

I don't see what all the fuss about showing the song is about though.

I absolutely despise Channel 7's coverage. Things I hate include:

  • All of their commentators except for Tom Harley
  • Close in camera angles where you get disoriented and don't know what the hell is going on
  • Delayed games - I hate this so, so much
  • Trying to cut the coverage short in some sort of attempt to trick us into watching their news
  • Commentators auditioning for stand-up instead of calling the game
  • Richo as boundary rider, great player, terrible as media commentator
  • Their cringeworthy promos/build up before the game. The channel 10 ones are so well done and they get you hyped for the game and build the drama. Channel 7 promos have that guy with the annoying/comical voice talking over about 100 players doing a fist pump and Bruce McAvaney quotes (e.g. That was special, It's on now). My personal favourite was when Richmond played Melbourne and they hyped the game up by saying the Gen Y players (Martin, Scully, etc) were 'Gr8' and used 'LOL' everywhere.

Personally I refuse to watch Channel 7's pathetic efforts to cover footy and have not watched a Ch 7 game for at least 15 years (GF's, Brownlows ... anything). Countdown clocks in 1988 was the starting point and I had all but given up when they got nuffies who couldn't string together three words as boundary rider (remember Dipper and his mumbling) and the killer was John Russo in the box for the umpire's perspective FFS.

Last Friday's final was the first match 7 showed live in living memory and even my friends cannot remember their last live game into Perth, though most thought it was the last GF they screened and buggered if anyone remembers when that was.

Perth's footy ratings on a Friday night would be higher if they were on live but the ABC and 6PR scoop up a significant proportion of the market who listen to the game and then decide to watch only 'if it sounds like a good game.'

I couldn't tell you who is on their coverage apart from Dennis Commetti and Bwucey and frankly I couldn't give a shit about their coverage, but it still sounds like they are somehow getting worse and worse.

If sanity prevails, then 7 will lose the footy rights and 9 gets them back!

I watch Foxtel's coverage because some of the most incisive comments come between a goal being kicked and the ensuing ball up and we don't get rammed with stupidity (apart from Glen Jakovich). If the game interests me I will watch 10 but try and zone out when Tim Lane is talking.

The coverage itself was good like Friday night was but of course the ads are annoying and the fact they left before the song and post match just plain stinks. Seriously I wish Foxtel just had the rights to footy, they would do a awesome postgame like they do during the season with their pre-game.

7 means delay

i hadnt watched any sport on 7 for a decade at least, but now i can get 7s friday via satellite at 6.30 and also can watch the game 7 dont show on sundays i do watch 7s footy.

but as its from central aust i never have to bother using anything they advertise.

for those in perth central satellite is a must if you want live footy

This is the finals, we just saw a great game, no post match, no club song, no analysis. And why ? so we could rush to see Mecurios's menu (at least here in Melb).

No respect.
:( wow, no way. in adelaide all of the finals games so far were played live. they played the songs, analyses etc. i guess footy coverage here isn't as bad as i thought.

i still get annoyed thinking about 7's coverage of the australian open. the roddick quarter final. 5 set match. 5th set, they cut to the news and wait for it... home and away. and they didn't bother to play the rest of it.
