Any ideas about what can be done at our stadium to increase the vocal ability of the crowd. The screamers end can be like a ghost town during games. Sometimes a hostile area to visit, with a seat possession obsession. I was talking to the trumpeter the other day and he had some good ideas, so that me thinking what can we do as members/fans to make our place a place that the opposition fans dont feel dominant.
IDEAS.
one of my big grudges is the way the team doesnt acknowledge the fans enough, either during the games or after the game. what would it hurt if Lynchie occasionally high fived a fan after a goal, or gave a clap towards the screamers section. Handing the balls out after a game seems to be a little to much of an effort for the team. They dont seem to like the thought of coming near their fans.

When the juggernaut gets going in 2017 the joint will be rocking its socks off.

Couldn't agree more. Perhaps if people wouldn't get so goddamn star struck and weird, they might be a little more accomodating....

Okay in my defense that was one time and Rory thought it was adorable.

The thing with Louie Herbert was humerous too before he left.

Organic growth

Win more games, get more people at games and then the atmosphere will increase and grow with the club.

Or give 5,000 free tickets away to kids under the age of 12 (primary school kids) and then have that adult only charged at 1/2 price. Do that for 2 years ago get those kids excited about AFL and the Gold Coast Suns.

So what exactly is a seat possession obsession?
would fight to retain the same seat. a form of ownership. so if he or she ducks out for a pie or drink and a person was visiting another person and sat in their seat for a brief conversation, death stare, daggers almost Ivan Milat style

The lack of assigned seating in the cheer squad area is a downside of Sunscreamers membership. My two daughters prefer toward the front seats, my wife the rear (away from incoming footballs and closer to the coffee cart). My friends - one prefers an aisle seat, one other toward the front. In my experience it's not an obsession but a definite preference.

The cheer squad, when we are winning, is an awesome place to be. The designation of a voluntary "Skipper" to lead on game day is a step in the right direction. Identifying shirts is another good step, promoting a sense of unity. The trumpeter works and is very popular; not sure of the tune selection (why the Mexican Hat dance?) - that could be an area of change in 2017. Less bulky floggers are planned, which makes it easier to get the kids involved. When wet they can be very heavy. Chants that aren't lame but remain popular over the season would be good.
