How will our best side look when we are once again in the top bracket?

Hurn Mackenzie Waters

Schofield Brown Sheppard

Masten S. Selwood Gaff

Hams Kennedy Weedon

Darling Lycett Broome

Naitanui LeCras Shuey

Stevens Ebert Swift JoJo Neates Rosa Priddis Brennan Wilson Hamp Futurehighdraftpicks

Few concerns about this team...

- No love for Strijk? I'm assuming you merely forgot him.

- Putting Lycett in this team is very speculative.

- Having two genuine on-ballers as the wingers. I see the wing as a much more specialised position than many realise. Need more pace there, Lewis Jetta would do nicely :thumbsu:

- If Butler can stay fit he'd be a Best 22 lock, IMO. But it's a massive IF so I can understand you leaving him out. He's not that old yet!

We're 2-3 years away from being one of the top 2-3 teams imo. Have deliberately not included anyone older than rosa although cox and priddis may still be kicking it then.

You that sure/hopeful we'll get him?

I really think Ebert has a future in our forward line. Allows Strijk to push up onto a wing, where he can roam in between the 50s, allowing both rebound and nice passes into our forwards. Rosa and Priddis very stiff to miss out, but I think the youngsters will surpass them in time.

Who can say who will be in such a team in the future. No one would've factored in that Gaff, Darling and Lycett would be playing at WC this time last year, so who's to say who WC will draft and trade for over the coming years as WC become a top side. That makes this thread nothing more than a mix of current best 22 and hypothetical best 22's based upon a personal wish list.

WC should be a good side again sometime in the next 5 years. In that time, WC will add possibly 10-15 top 30 players from the drafts, if they don't trade them. The current best 22, given that many good draft picks, could and likely will change considerably, making this thread ultimately pointless and only good for hypothetical discussion. Arranging the current squad isn't how it's going to be.

Yep i reckon we'll take jordan and hopeful we'll get brandon. I don't know wally really other than as an acquaintance but i'm hopeful pete's son jordie keeps developing nicely.

For the uninformed like me, how old is Jordan? I hope he's inherited some of his dads talent.

My understanding is he is about 15/16.

Plays like an outside mid and goal kicker. Similar style to Harley Bennell.

Appartently, the club is watching him closly.

If drafted, hope he can convince his cousin to come home with one of his mates (Bennell/Swallow :D)

Paul Hasleby made an interesting call about West Coast today on the live 6PR panel show. He said that in past few years, our side has been forced to play the youngsters a bit, to get them some experience, however starting this year, players have been forced to earn their spots. Which is a sign that we are on the improve. Obviously the two first up wins also proves that. Injuries have been a factor in the past, but nevertheless we gave the kids a go. Good signs for the future.

On a side note, didn't mind listening to Hasleby today, he certainly isn't your normal ex-Docker who thinks the Eagles are always on the down. He actually has a whole lot less bias, being an ex-Eagles supporter he probably still has a soft spot... maybe.

Well, he certainly made a point of not showing that soft spot whenever he played against us. How many medals did he win?

Darling? And so with this optimistic outlook for our side in 2-3 years why isn't anybody optimistic that Kerr may be past his career-threatening injuries and playing well at that stage?

Both of their continual belittling of other peoples intelligence suggests they could be the same person however I believe there was some overlap between them.

Copped a permaban

hasn't come back with another account although some people suggested him and eagle87 were the same poster

What'd he do?

Gunnar and Eagle87 are very different posters.

Sure, they're both abrasive and argumentative but Gunnar is king of semantics more than anything else.

Start a thread claiming that McGinnity is elite and Eagle87 will argue until he's blue in the face that McGinnity is an ordinary footballer. Longshanks will debate the meaning of the term 'elite' and pull apart every single sentence like it's a chicken carcas...

Does this really look like the work of Eagle87? :D

HB: Sheppard, Brown, Hurn

HF: Strijk, Kennedy, LeCras
FF: Lycett, Darling, Hams

Ruck: Nicnat, Shuey, Scooter

Bench/Sub/Emergency Rosa, Ebert, Priddis, Masten, Schofield

Ive named Lycett in the forward pocket as Darling may be a touch short to be an AFL full forward so Lycett/Nicnat can rotate forward to provide a bit more height up there.

In this team i'm presuming Swift becomes a star but i'm doubtful this will happen so we may need to recruit/trade for another midfielder. Im pretty happy about everywhere else. Just give them time.

I am with Gunner on his thoughts about Priddis late 2007.

He is getting back to that and I believe he WILL GET close to top 5 players in the AFL

Funny seeing some posts from that thread:

Both different types - HUrn is more the bash and crash half back running through midfield whilst Priddis is a pacy centremen and skilful finisher. Don't think you'd play Priddis at half back/back pocket whereas Hurn could probably play from back pocket to half forward pretty easily.
