So the top 6 look just about set, or does anyone think Lockhart/howlong will fail and Jindera/ CDHBU can pull off an upset?

No chance howlong can lose to walla but Lockhart could very well lose to Holbrook. Holbrook have pushed some top sides recently and been unlucky not to win. Very much a danger game for Lockhart. If they are slightly off Holbrook will roll them. Interesting to see how Holbrook approach the game. Perfect chance for Doswell to try a few things for next year when he takes over, with the result not being important. Then it would be up to 1 of the other 2 to pull of an upset. What I'm interested in is how BB saints handle this weekend knowing they can't move up or down. Do they rest players for the 1st final? If they were to lose and Jindera and Lockhart both lose then they would play CDHBU again the following week. Osborne obviously need a win to get back into winning form.

I thought it was pretty poor form from Trent Ball with his comments about Walla today. The way things were handled may not have been ideal but too talk down the club and the way it handles things isn't a good look from a so called "senior coach"

What did he say? Was it in the paper?

Think back to the end of last season, Craig Mannagh suffered the same fate and he wasn't even informed by the club instead found out through the media. Something seems wrong out there in the way their commity handle things especially when it comes to the coach. As for Trent's comments it seems he has a mouthful of sour grapes after learning of his demise, to say that he had commitment from this years list is a load of rubbish as i personally know a few of their players and they had said if he were to coach again they would move to another club. I think Trent should be happy with the way he was let go as it seems a damn site better than the way he was appointed.

I have joined up here to set the story strait with us at Walla. Firstly due to Craig mannagh's injury, is the reason we didnt reappoint him, he was still ahving sezzures and didnt think it was in either of the clubs or craig's best interests. this year we appointed trent ball late due to the circumstances. trent's comments in the paper arent entirely true. unfortunately we have been told by a few of our better players that they are looking at other clubs. through the appointment of trent, we have lost a few players who have dealt through him in cricket and didnt like or respect him, some names like milosta and mitch obrien, names who are solid senior players and have had solid ties to the club. hopefully we do find a high profile coach that will fit into our club well and we get the kinds of players back that we have lost over the last few years. tim webb will coach our reserves so that culture of our locals is slowly coming back with the likes of the garlicks etc returning which is a great step forward for our club. I am not on the committee at Walla but have been there for a long time and will be there for years to come but for trent to bad mouth the club in the paper like he has shows thst he is not a club man and not there for Walla's best interests. there is no reason why he couldnt stay on next year in an assistants role or something like that but he has just cried to the paper and thrown his toys out of the cot. it just shows we may have may a mistake in appointing him considering how many cricket and football clubs he has been too. i have spoken to a few of the people who no him through cricket and they said for him to be kicked out of lavington and st pats and bad mouth both clubs the problem is him, not the clubs. i am not here to bad mouth the man but i want to stand up for our club, alot of people read this website and want everyone to no that the club is is on its way up and only doing what we think is best. i thort it was interesting to read mcalisters from osborne article, he said he was happy to stand down if osborne found a better coach, which is the opposite to trent who ran to the paper and cried. i personally was disappointed in our coach because he didnt make everyone train, if his mates didnt train it was ok. thats not what will make us improve. hopefully our players stay on and we appoint a coach that will guide us back up the ladder.

What the hell happened yesterday. Lockhart thrashed by Holbrook which opened up a spot for Jindera & CDHBU to take. Jindera leading the top side Rand at 3/4 time but blow a golden opportunity by being overrun in the last Quarter. CDHBU who were behind Jindera on percentage in 8th spot thrash 3rd place Brock Burrum and do a Stephen Bradbury to go into the final 6. Amazing. Suggests what a good league we have. Bring on finals.

Interesting finals series ahead. Seems no one wanted 6th spot. BB rested a few yesterday once they knew they had to win 4 finals player management came in. I expect BB to bounce back although their form isnt great.
The other final is interesting Howlong could well extend their season for another week.
Im still tipping a BB v Henty GF.
I dont think RW have the depth to take them all the way. Their top liners carry too much of the load. Interesting times ahead.

That's gonna change this year mate. Top 4 certainties

Just wanted to re live this post from Lockhart's assistant coach earlier this year about his sides chances.

Lockhart would have been ropable with BB resting half their side yesterday to give CDHBU a finals berth, although they can only blame themselves with a poor effort against Holbrook.

Going to be a massive finals series. The top 3 are still very close but I'm tipping a Henty win this year.

Few of the CDHBU boys are saying that once you put the physical pressure on BB Saints that they squeal and take a backward step! Are the saints going to get shown up in the finals?

Surely nobody would be stupid enough to say things like that. Handful of best 18 players missing and nothing to play for...

Was a very physical game, CDHBU threw everything at it and were deserving winners. But surely you dont want to give BB any more ammunition.

I can assure you that no one from CDHBU said any of those comments. Any person at the game would have seen two teams going hard at it the whole game, with very little squealing,or indeed none, evident.
CDHBU have nothing but respect for the BB saints.

Surprises have been thrown up all year and wouldnt expect it to stop now. Lots of people tipping henty but rand have the form coming of the byes this year and have shown they can win when behind at 3qt time. BB saints should bounce back after resting players and show it was the right thing to do. No talk about howlong and most written of osborne over the past month. As for Jindera and Lockhart bad luck and look forward to an easier draw next year.

What players did BB rest, as far as i can tell on sporting pulse all there guns played. I'm tipping a Rand/ Henty GF with Rand to win by twenty points.

[/QUOTIposted

Rand/Walbundrie looking very ominous to make the grand final and maybe win it. BB and Henty being the major challengers...... but the tigers possess within their list some 8 to 9 top players, whereas the other clubs have5 or 6 top players, and the Tigers have some serious goalkicking power.

After three rounds this is what I think.

RW to win flag by 10 goals, have some top A graders, plenty of depth, some real good kids coming on and are working hard on the track. Will be hard to stop.
Henty to play off in GF, really good onballers, good kids and coached very well, there backline is suspect and lack depth.
BB to come third, have not trained hard enough and may not have the hunger and may not be coached as well as they were last year.
Jindera to come forth have some A graders and plenty of depth, may not have enough A graders to go all the way.
CDHBU to come fifth, have improved on last year but there older guys are getting older, don't have the depth to go the next step.
Howlong to finish sixed, have a few A graders, some really good kids and plenty of depth, will improve on last year.
Osborne to finish seventh, Have no depth and there A graders are getting old, they do have the best group of kids coming on in the league. Will run out of steam as the season goes on, unless they pick up a few more A graders before June 30.
Holbrook to finish eighth, have no forwards and no big men, no depth and there kids don't work hard enough.
Lockhart to finish ninth, not enough A graders, no depth and no good kids coming on
MM to finish tenth, may surprise me but I doubt it.
Culcairn, to far back to do much, no kid s coming on need to spend heaps to get back up.
Crows, no depth, there A graders only play well every third week and there kids haven't came on like they would of hoped.
Walla, another long year, may have to start talking to Culcairn.

I posted this after three rounds, turns out I'm not to far off the money so far, Jindera let me down and I think I got Osborne right even thought they made finals. I'm still backing a Rand / Henty GF with Rand to win by 20 points. Will be interesting to see how the finals play out.
