WEST Coast’s Shannon Hurn looks set to miss the next two matches after he was charged with a rough conduct offence.
Hurn drew 325 demerit points and a three-game suspension for making contact with Port Adelaide’s Paul Stewart that can be reduced to two with an early plea.
Stewart broke his nose and was knocked unconscious by Hurn’s bump and stretchered off the field.
He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 243.75 points and a two-match sanction
If he doesn't have a prior record doesn't that mean he's got a good record??? He should be entitled to another discount for having a good record ffs
Still i was expecting 2 weeks from the start
I read somewhere this morning that you only get a good record bonus after 5 years with a clean record. Hurn has only played for 4 years so just misses out.
I think they'll fight the negligent part and get it down to accidental. Would that mean 1 week with a guilty plea?
Hey we got done and he wasnt even moving or lookingI'd sympathise with you, but ever since Pickett got targetted and then Burgoyne got 3 matches for charging with his BACK, I'm waiting for the rest of the AFL teams to suffer as well.
horrible call should of been at least 4 weeks
If it's accidental, it's not rough conduct so he gets nothing.I think they'll fight the negligent part and get it down to accidental. Would that mean 1 week with a guilty plea?
He couldn't tackle because his opponent never took hold of the ball, and he was contesting it because the ball was in between them when he hit Stewart who had dropped to one knee basically. If it's accidental, it's not rough conduct so he gets nothing.
But the rules say that any high contact where a player bumps when either tackling or contesting the ball was a realistic option is negligent, so the case for accidental has to revolve around that point, which is going to be difficult.
2 is ultimately fair for what occured.

Ultimately if Stewart had stayed on his feet instead of slipping, dropping to one knee after fumbling the ball from a crap handball from Westhoff he wouldn't have a broken nose and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
