Hurn..how many weeks

He had eyes for the footy right until he saw he was going to be second. That said the MRP will do all they can to protect people's head

This pretty much sums up my opinion.

According to the rule, he should get at least one match.

If you were hurn though, pretty hard coz there wasn't much time to think of what to do. Protection of the head is key though.

If his name was Byron Pickett he would get 8, but it's not so he'll get 3 and deservedly so.[/quote

You guys are unbelievable Hurn had a microsecond to brace for impact and Stewart clearly slid Ps isnt Hurn from S.A.

You need to change your team status ...for some reason you have it as Carlton ..when it's obvious you are an Eagles fan.

Will probably get 2-3 weeks which seems fair considering the potential to really seriously injure a player.

Agreed it's a difficult one.

Hurn is also the last person who would ever play the man and I mean the last.

Impossible to avoid hard impact when 2 players travelling at high speed in opposite directions over a disputed ball.

The only reason head contact was made was because Stewart had slipped at the last split second, if he had not slipped it would have been body on body contact.

Hurn didn't raise his elbow, he merely braced his body for unavoidable hard contact, this is a natural instinct to protect oneself from injury.

This was a courageous effort by 2 committed players it is unfortunate that we are condemming a player for something that once made our game great.

Um see Alex Rance V Troy Selwood for courageous effort.

Also I think he was pretty concerned about what had happened, you could see him talking to Kerr and a few others, I def don't think he is a thug. He was worried, and didn't do much for the rest of the game.

Dont know why slipping has so much to do with it. Even if Stewart didnt slip, he still would have been collected 100% in the head. He had his head down. Slipping doesnt change the fact he had his head down. James Begley slipped but it didnt stop Pickett getting 8 weeks.

Now im not saying Hurn should get 8 weeks, just saying that slipping has zilch to do with this incident.

Im pretty torn in what I think should happen. Half of me thinks it was just a heavy hit with no malice and he should get off. It was just one of those things and I dont think Hurn is a dirty player at all. The other half of me sees that he collected someone front on at full pace and collected him 100% in the head. Slip, brace for contact....its a poor excuse. He could have easily gone to tackle instead of choosing to turn side on and collect him in the head. You see plenty of other contests where the player does go the tackle in the same situation, otherwise you'd have 50 stretcher cases a week.

I think he'll get one at the most. Probably none though, and id be fine with that. The Port cynic in me hopes he gets 5 considering some of the shit suspensions weve copped over the years though.

Personally, I think if he gets off I won't be too disappointed. If he gets 2-3...well fair enough. Yet if it was one of our players I'd be screaming that it was a fair attack on the ball, and if he pulled out I'd want him droipped.

So conflicted!

Westhoff should get two weeks for a shit handball...

lol thats what i thought at the game

i just saw the replay on foxtel after being at the game. i really dont know what he will get. looking at the replay, i'm not sure what else he could do other than brace for impact in the split second he realised he couldnt get to the ball first. over to the MRP roulette now...

It should be none because there was no ill-intention in it, that much should be obvious to anyone and everyone who actually saw the bump. That aside, there was head high contact... so I'll say 1 to 2 for messing up Stewart's hair.

3 for high contact + 3 that Kennedy didn't get, so 6.

I laughed :D

Was at the game. My initial reaction was 2-3. Chose to bump, clearly hit head with resultant injuries to the player. Whilst intent may not of been there ala Kosi, under the current rules he'll have a 2-3 week holiday in my opinion.

Mind you, if Hille can get off, who the hell knows.

hopefully none for that. Obviously it was a poor handball and then the port player slipped at the crucial time. Don't think Hurn had a chance to avoid him without pulling out altogether
