Yes, definitely too soon. It's a lot of money to raise and a 3 year gap just isn't enough. Particularly if your 'reward' for all your hard earned fund-raising is to play a semi-final match in near darkness. Still shaking my head at that one.

Benjamin which team would you be referring to? This issue was widely covered before, during and after IC 08 but to be honest I thought the setup was pretty well done. It allowed the four 4th place teams to have their own 'finals' series in the last two games which is why we were all there, would have been difficult to do it any other way unless you just wanted the lower teams to play each other 5 times.
And I see the argument against the three year turnaround...but in most cases I wouldn't imagine any significant fundraising would happen until the last 12-18 months before the tournament regardless of the 3 or 4 year gap! In my experience the large majority of players don't really care about this until the 'panic factor' steps up!

There's no ill feeling at all. A lot of us worked very hard to put the first one together in 2002.
But 2008 fell down in many areas. It would have been much better if the AFL had put as much effort into the football as the dinner at Crown Casino.
