We often receive miscellaneous photos of grounds, venues, teams, groups or individuals which we are asked to assist in identifying. I thought it would be good to have a separate thread for this type of query (unless it exists elsewhere?).

I will kick it off with this team photo which the owner had been told was of Collingwood origins.

unknown team from Jarryd Paton.jpg

We discovered it was referenced on Boyles site as "Collingwood Style" at Glenferrie Oval.

In the Boyles site image there is another team in the top right preparing for their team photo in what appear to be Hawthorn uniform.

It is unlikely to be a senior Collingwood team as they are wearing hooped socks, which were never part of the uniform.

Fred Green (ex Essendon (1939-41, 1943, 1946), StKilda (1947-51), Army Services and Navy is identified in centre of middle row with wristband.

1st player on left back row is thought to be Kevin Wade, Captain of Collingwood Thirds in 1952 (but not the Kevin Wade who played seniors in 40s-50s).

There are some other faces that look familiar but looking for other opinions. Any thoughts gratefully received.

OK, where is it, just be aware that in 1937 Regan represented Victoria and the champs were in Perth.

I though it may be Whitten/Western Oval.

Just because of those white sort of rails to lean against in the standing area behind the goals.

But that photo is 1970 ....so maybe but maybe not.

Palm trees, extensive banking, funny tunnel thing, bowling club.... I'm thinking Lakeside Oval..

That tower in the background behind the goals is a early radio broadcasting box for 3AW or KZ. Fun climbing up and down on a cold, wet, windy day. There is a photo of it somewhere in blueseum.
1934, 3KZ constructed the first purpose built broadcasting box at a football ground. This was located outside the Lake Oval and was 60ft in height. Blueseum has a pretty good photo of it in its 1934 image gallery. I think it was outside the fence because they couldn't get permiision to build inside.
