Im too emotional to even type anything really... i've just got back from the game, my head is spinning from what i've just witnessed. We put up an excellent battle against the clear favourites and i thought we may had escaped with a win. We showed them how strong of a club we really are, despite everyone riding us off.

The first thing i did when i walked in the doors of my house was hang my scarf up above my bedroom door. Well done boys, despite the loss that was an amazing performance! There's no shame in that effort, well done boys!

:thumbsu::(

am so shattered right now. that should be us celebrating. i can just burst out in tears right now if i wanted to.

we'll be back next year with a fully fit roughy hopefully..

Was really angry when we lost, now I just feel really proud. After that game though I feel like we're finally back, best game we've played in 3 years. Young side bring on next year!

Hell of an effort from the whole club this year, innovative coaching, found some exciting new players and covered for some big injuries.

Who would have thought we would be a kick away from the Grand Final when Stratts, Gilly & Roughy went down, Hodge was struggling with his achillies and Rioli's hamstring was such an issue? Great effort from Bailey to play so many consecutive games, best year from Birchall, Gibson and Sam.

Great post mate, very proud of the fellas in Brown & Gold tonight.

What a game! You guys are a quality team and I honestly thought the game was done and dusted when Buddy kicked that goal.

Looking forward to future clashes in the next few years.

I'm terribly proud of the boys myself. The result didn't go our way but I'm sure we won a lot of fans with the way we accounted for ourselves tonight.

The fact that Mick was crying after the game I reckon says it all - Collingwood will consider themselves very, very lucky to have made it past us.

Can't ask for much more from the team than that if you ask me. :thumbsu:

Was absolutely shattered after this game, I’m proud of the boys for taking it to the Pies and for their year overall, but the fact we had a decent lead is the hardest thing about this loss. I think we should have won, some errors really cost us but can’t say that they didn’t give it their all, bring on 2012. I’m absolutely exhausted after watching that!

you should be very proud - in the end it was our fitness that got us through and its no consolation but you were the better team.

We know the feeling - losing to Geelong in the 2007 prelim was gut wrenching. respect to all players on the field tonight

And you should be proud, that was easierly the best game of the year. If you did win, it would not have been against the odds. You guys have a quality team and will be there again next year, there is no doubting that.
Well done hawks supporters, hold your head up high.
It wasn't until the last minute of the game, that I wasn't prepared to be proud of my boys for a hard fought out loss.
There can only be one winner in football but in this case, it was the game itself.
Great season, well done.
Keep the faith

Gutted but couldn't be prouder. Not one player left anything in the tank tonight and, I think, class got them over the line in the end. When they needed to finish off they did, we didn't. Superb effort and whilst disappointing to lose, hopefully there this is a taste of what could have been to drive us 2 steps further next year. Plenty of improvement left in this group

good game but you where the op that said the pies cant win the PRELIM all i can say is thats what you get for your cocky attitude that you had last week back2back side by side

Proud of the effort they put in.

Proud that they and clarko are really dirty on themselves for letting one slip.

Let collingwood win by a couple of set plays - ball up in the pocket feed back to a loose man, shoes opponent on the goal line to shepherd through. Not sure if we should have had a second player there, would have meant a second opponent too.

you should be very proud - in the end it was our fitness that got us through

Fitness. Yeah. Right.

But yeah, like the rest of the posters, so amazingly proud of the boys tonight. If someone told me after Gilly, Stratts, and Roughy all went down that we would run the pies to within three points in a prelim that we deserved to win I would have looked at them like they were nuts. Our kids have been massive, just massive. This loss will galvanise and harden our club even more than the 2008 gf did - it has shown that success can't be taken for granted. Beware the hawks in 2012, 13, 14 and 15. We are coming.

We were so close with everything that has been thrown at us this year we have done so well to get as close as we have. We will be back next year and be the team to beat :-}.

Don't want to be a sore loser, but fitness had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, can relax next weekend and just watch a cracking contest hopefully.

Quality post.

So close, but so far. So frustrating. But agree, when Lisle went down earlier in the year, i thought our season was over, and to be 1 kick/bounce/roll of the dice away from a GF is a great achievement.

Yes, comiserations to you guys, you've been a great team all year and were all over us early today.

Furthermore, most of the Hawks supporters I've seen on here have been all class and gracious losers... stay proud guys and I'm certain we'll all see you at the pointy end of 2012! :thumbsu:
